5.0 out of 5 stars Order in bulk
My 3-year-old boy loves flashlights. This one solves the problems he's had with regular flashlights. With regular ones, he:

A) can't flip adult thumb switches to turn on or off,
B) doesn't turn them off & batteries run down, and
D) adult-sized flashlights are too heavy or difficult for toddler hands to handle safely.

- This one turns itself off...

1.0 out of 5 stars had to return it
We bought this at the brick-and-mortar store and had to return it. We planned to give it to our nearly 5-yr-old daughter for Christmas but when my husband opened it to put batteries in, he pinched his finger very hard in the moving flashlight head. If he could pinch it that hard, then my little girl's fingers could certainly get it worse. Seems like a good idea for a...

- This one turns itself off progressively after a few minutes!
- It stands up by itself!
- The green button color teaches "on" and the red button "off."
- It delivers and he's never frustrated by working it.

An all-around great toddler gift, if you ask me. I'm buying a number of them, keeping them on hand for gifts through the year. It's a winner. (Never had a prob with pinching fingers in pivoting head.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Have had this forever and it's fab!, June 1, 2006

We gave this to my (now 3.5 year old) son on his first Christmas. He loved to keep it in his crib and comforted him to know that he could turn on his own light. It was great for us too because we knew that the batteries wouldn't be exhausted with the automatic shut off. So what if it doesn't stay bright for very long? Cause and effect is a great lesson for toddlers. As for the frustration that other reviewers cite, I agree, but with the proviso that an adult would likely be more irritated with accidentally switching the light off than a child. This light has held up like a champ with minimal battery changes. As long as you come at this light with lower expectations: NO it's not a maglite---it's a toy, not a deep wilderness guide light, you will be very happy!

4.0 out of 5 stars a simple fun toy - a little expensive, May 29, 2004

my (just turned) 4 year old really likes this flashlight. it has been used as a laser, homing beacon for our rescue heros, camping light, everything. it's too simple to be a "favorite" toy but it seems to play well with other toys. very durriable and the auto off feature is nice. I think they could have figured out a way to make it blink or do something else. No trouble with him turing it off by accident and no pinched fingers at our house. a little expensive.

I bought this flashlight for my 2 year old son and he loves it. It is easy for him to use. We love the fact that it turns off automatically. My son has had it for over a year and we haven't had any trouble with it. It is great!

This is a good light for little ones to take to bed but as far as caringing it around, it is not so convienent. The off button is in a bad location, especially when trying to aim the light. I find it frustrating that I hit the off button by accident while just holding the light. Imagine the frustration of a 2 year old!

5.0 out of 5 stars Longest lasting toy we have ever purchased..., August 18, 2007

Other than Thomas wooden trains, this flashlight has now lasted our 6 yr old for over 4 years. I have just purchased 3 more for our younger boys to have. Don't really understand the problems others have had, but our kids LOVE IT and there has been no other toy used as consistently. Our 6 yr old takes it to bed to read every single night and has since he got it new. I change the batteries 3-4 times each year! Name another battery operated toy that you say that about??? A guaranteed hit. Going to buy another one just for back-up when one of them finally quits working.

I bought this for my son when he was 3, he's now almost 11 and still uses it. It has fallen down the stairs, been buried in the garage under a ton of junk, left outside in the rain, etc. and still works as well as the day we got it. He still thinks there are monsters under his bed, so it has more than paid for itself. Wish I had gotten more of them

We bought it 2 years ago for Christmas for our 2 year old. We were visiting family and all the other children wanted to play with it. He loved to take it to bed and when he fell asleep with the auto off so did it. I wish I had bought more and I wish they had different colors. We still use it (even mom and dad).

I had to buy a second one immediately when I thought my son had left his at his grandparent's house. He has used his flashlight at bedtime, reading books, for nearly 2 years. He can push the button on and not have to hold it, and it's adjustable. It has been dropped off the top bunk bed, banged around, etc. and it has continued working great.

The best feature is the automatic shut-off, besides its durability. I'm just as glad to have the second, back-up, one as I want to keep this exact flashlight for a long time to come.
