I got this for my almost 5 and 6 yr olds who are big-time Spongebob fans. This game is absolutely adorable and loads of fun for our whole family! The board is an outrageously colorful and fun representation of Bikini Bottom. There are 3-D buildings of Patrick's, Squidward's, & Spongebob's houses, The Krusty Crab, The Chum Bucket, Mrs. Puff's Boating School, The Anchor, & The Shady Shoals Rest Home. The pawns are delightful and substantial 3-D plastic renditions of Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, & Mr. Krabs that ALWAYS stay standing on their adequate base!! I can't stand those cheapo cardboard pawns with the tiny stands!!! There is no accumulation of children in this game version, but one does decide on whether to attend college or not (and pick a corresponding career), adopt a pet, and chose a home. There are life tiles($100 each)to earn for doing decent things and expenses to pay for unfortunate or typical Bikini Bottom life events. There are also Raffle cards to help earn extra money by game of chance spins. The writing on all of the cards is witty and humorous. I won't spill the beans about the pets, careers, homes, expenses, life cards or raffle cards because they are just so cute and funny!! My kids think the cards are a riot! The winner is determined once every player has reached Shady Shoals rest home by greatest net worth. The game moves along at just the right pace and my kids had no problem learning the rules. It is a great teacher of reading and money counting ($1,000's & $100's only)as well as decision making and consequences of behavior. Game play really does even out any skill level because much of the game is chance based by the numerical spinner to make your move. I paid full price for this game and I think it is well worth every penny! A++++++, FABULOUS GAME!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Game of Life Sponge Bob, August 13, 2006
This review is from: Hasbro The Game of Life - Bikini Bottom SpongeBob SquarePants Edition (Toy)
I don't think the original edition of the Game of Life was meant for grade-school age children. Re-vamping the board with familiar Sponge Bob, Squidward, Mr. Crabs and Patrick makes it an inviting game! Visually, the game board looks great. There are slots on the board to insert the Crusty Crab, The Chum Bucket, Sponge Bob's house, etc. The game is a lot of fun and my kids enjoyed it so much. I even enjoyed playing it with them. My only complaint is with the spinner. It is a great looking two-part spinner but when you spin it you have to hold it down. Otherwise it will come apart and/ or come off the board.

4.0 out of 5 stars This game is for little kids, August 16, 2006
This review is from: Hasbro The Game of Life - Bikini Bottom SpongeBob SquarePants Edition (Toy)
We bought the game thinking it would be just like the real life game, but with sponge Bob characters. It is a very simplified version of the game. It is geared towards young children. In the game, if you run out of money, you just keep playing, and you are exempt from having to pay any fees, while the people with money, still keep paying...so you are actually better off if you lose your money early in the game. (that bugs me)

as far as the spinner goes...it snaps on, you have to press hard to get it to click into place, and it works great. Just a little disappointed, just remember, it's for little kids. If you love the game of life, get the original one...my older kids want me to buy the original one, they don't care for the sponge bob version.

4.0 out of 5 stars Had a blast playing Spongebob Life, December 26, 2006
This review is from: Hasbro The Game of Life - Bikini Bottom SpongeBob SquarePants Edition (Toy)
We in our house are Spongebob fans, adults included. The Game of Life is also one of our favorites, so we were excited when our daughter got this game for Christmas. It's simplified from the original version of Life, but that works for us as we are playing it with our five year-old. Plus, we were diverted by the Bikini Bottom aspects and did not miss aquiring children. We had great fun playing this game!

The only thing I did not like was that I couldn't keep my Squidward pawn from falling over constantly.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Learning Tool for SpongeBob Lovers, January 18, 2008

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my six year old son who loves SpongeBob. He was always playing with his sister's original version of Life and would get so frustrated with it (the different dollar values, the little people in the cars, etc). I really had no idea how this one worked, just that it was SpongeBob. It is so wonderful for his age! The playing pieces are actual characters; it only has two denominations; they get to choose homes, pets and careers they can relate to from watching the show; and they learn the process of taking a chance (at first I didn't like this because it seemed like gambling to me, but after watching the thought process this caused my son to use - he would look to see if he had enough money to lose)I guess it's okay. This is such a fun game for him he even plays it by himself! The only part I don't like is having to put pieces in all the slots each time to play - but they are identified quite well and it doesn't seem to be an issue for my son.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for kids, February 16, 2007

as much as i liked the game of life as a kid, the modern version has gotten way too complicated. my kids don't enjoy it at all.

This however, being geared for little ones is wonderful. my 7 year old just loves it. she loves SpongeBob, so it's really tickling to be able to extend his life with the game. and although her reading is shaky, this doens't require much skill, but it motivates her to figure the words out. if played with a grown up kids don't have to read at all.

great concepts

My grandkids and I have spent hours playing this fun edition of the Game of Life. It's engaging for even the earliest reader and fun for those too little to read as there are no little bitty pieces to try to fit into a car. I was pleased that the game was represented very fairly, was in the condition reported and arrived in plenty of time for my grandson's birthday. Thanks

The game is very good for children 5 years or older, depending on how the child can interact with a board game. It does teach a sense of money, importance of going to school (you get a high paying job) and how one can be bombarded with unexpected expenses. Very fun game, I play it with my 7 year old nephew all the time and he loves it!

This is an easy game to play. Good for your child, he manages money, makes desicions, and better than playing on the computer. Great for the whole family.
