5.0 out of 5 stars Nascar HEAT
Just purchased this game a last week. I had raced in the other wannabe sims and this one is superior. Big pluses for this sim are the simplified pit crew commands, autodrive option for yellow flags, very smooth driving (a quick computer helps), and the AI engine is very realistic. 3.0 out of 5 stars Basically good, but some nagging flaws
After playing Nascar 2, Nascar 3, and now Nascar Heat, I have to say this game has the best graphics and gives the best driving experience of all. The sounds are more realistic, the driving is more realistic, and the tracks and cars are much more detailed. I have a 600 Pentium 3 and it ran pretty smooth. Big pluses for this sim are the simplified pit crew commands, autodrive option for yellow flags, very smooth driving (a quick computer helps), and the AI engine is very realistic. You can race on all of the Winston Cup tracks. The race arena reproductions are impressive. I have personally been to Bristol Motor Speedway, and this sim does a great job in reproducing that track. The "Beat the Heat" part of this sim will help anyone in coping with the conditions encountered during any race. No buyer's remorse on this purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and entertaining NASCAR game, September 15, 2000
This review is from: Nascar Heat (CD-ROM)
This is probably about the 10th Nascar related game I've played. It isn't very different than the last few. I guess the improvements are graphics wise as well as the sound. It is a fun game, don't get me wrong. There is a beat the heat feature in while you start on a track in a certain scenario (ex. 15th place with 3 laps to go, and you need to finish in the top three to move on), that is very challenging and fun. If you don't own any other NASCAR games, this wouldn't be a bad one to start with.

5.0 out of 5 stars NASCAR HEAT is THE game to beat, November 26, 2000

I have played NASCAR 1, 2, 3, and 99 and this game by far is the best simulation on the market. From the "Beat the Heat" to "Race the Pro," you will not get bored with this game anytime soon. However, even though I have a 700 mHz P3 w/ 128 mb ram, this game ran a little slow when running 43 cars and all the graphic stuff turned up. This minor flaw is nothing compared to how great this game really is. The Multiplayer is nothing like anything else. Not much to complain about this game, but one that I do have is that you cannot save during the middle of a race. This makes is hard to race long races, because if you cannot sit at the computer to race the whole race, you will not be able to save it. Maybe the next patch that Hasbro comes out with will include a game save option. I would recommend this game to anyone from a first time driver to the most experienced simulation driver!

Just downloaded the demo, and man was I impressed!! The demo gives you just a little piece of the game, but it was enough to make me order it five munutes later. Graphics are spectacular and the cars are closer to real than any other racing game out there. Do yourself a favor, GET THIS GAME!!!!!!

Beat the Heat and Race the Pro should keep you busy on Expert mode for a long time, and they're a lot of fun. Just making laps at a place like Bristol or The Glen on Expert mode is fun by itself.

The game isn't without it's faults, though. It has Daytona, unlike Nascar 2 and 3, but is missing Indianapolis and Pocono. The computer tends to behave strangely during caution laps. I've sat back and watched several pileups at 35 mph, and caution periods last forever. The spotter is almost useless. He'll only warn you of cars on your inside or outside when they're right next to you, and sometimes not at all. I've wrecked several times this way, hearing the spotter's warning only after I spun into the grass. Nascar 3's spotter was much better. Also, in Nascar 3, you could pause the game to go through the menus and select the adjustments to be made on your next stop. No such luxury here, so be prepared to juggle driving and the F-keys.

Like any game, I'd suggest playing the demo for a while to decide if the pros balance out the cons. Give Nascar 4 a spin as well, it might be the better alternative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Graphics, and Fast Fun, December 30, 2000
This review is from: Nascar Heat (CD-ROM)
Finally, I can tell the difference between the manufacturers. And there's action on pit road. Actual guys changing tires, etc. And you can FLIP the car!

Heat is much more easy to grasp and enjoy. Nascar 2, 3, and 99 are great, but the car set-up options makes them difficult to pick up and start racing. Heat lets you strip down those features, and truly jump right in. The Beat the Heat and Race the Pro features are great learning aids if you need some help.

My only complaint is the manual. It is rather thin. Nascar 3 is a veritable tome with breakdowns and tips on each track. While Beat the Heat Race the Pro helps you get a feeling, details of each track would be nice.

Overall, though, the best for anyone wanting a Nascar simulator

3.0 out of 5 stars A modern era wonder..., December 28, 2000

This review is from: Nascar Heat (CD-ROM)
Gives Papy and the N1, 2, 3 (& maybe 4) series sims a serious run for their money. Best eye-candy out there so far. Physics model seems better than N3, particularly in the AI cars, with a couple of flaws that supposedly will soon be patched; very limited online field size, and pitting will get you KO'd without auto-pit. The biggest problem is my old PII 450, doesn't have the oomph to run this... But, wonderful on a 800++ AMD (or intel if you must). N4 will have to be very good to play in this league, at least where graphics are concerned.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game!, August 28, 2000

I played the demo and loved it! This game is more realistic than any other NASCAR game ive played. The graphics are awesome! The beat the heat challenge is very creative. The Al is great unlike the repitiveness of EA's NASCAR 2000. It's very real and I reccomend it. Hopefully the full version is just as good.

I just played the demo and am now about to pre-order the game. And what a game it is. The graphics are excellent. Very smooth flowing on my Celeron 500 at 1024x768 with all details on. The physics are awesome, made by the same people that created Viper Racing true race fans won't be dissapointed. The car acts like it should and at times rolls with a big enough crash. The AI is very aggressive. Multiplayer wasn't availible in the demo so hopefully it will be as strong as the rest of this game.

Hasbro Interactive did there homework on this one! This game is the real deal. Graphics are great and cars are more realistic than the Pupyrus games! And listen to this DAYTONA! night and day. And they have rights to every track. Just don't sit there see for yourself.
