4.0 out of 5 stars 25 Years and Beyond!
I was born in 87', and I started getting Gi Joes when I was about four. They were mostly hand-me-downs and "lucky finds" on the playground at school. I remember when I went to Payless in 92' (now Rite-Aid) and gazed upon a wall of brand new, packaged figures. I was so amazed that I couldn't speak. I'm sure all Gi Joe fans and collectors get that feeling when they see new...

3.0 out of 5 stars 25th anniversary is good...just...good
These could have been a far better tribute to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Real American Hero line. The plastic is not as good as what they used back in the 80's, the articulation is slightly improved in some areas, but it's made worse in more areas.

These could have been a far better tribute to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Real American Hero line. The plastic is not as good as what they used back in the 80's, the articulation is slightly improved in some areas, but it's made worse in more areas.

The figures do not sit well as they have only a twist joint at the waist and do not bend. The top of the thigh is restricted by the waist/lower torso piece as well so the legs will not bend to a 90 degree angle.

The sculpting is good and the weapon detail is really nice. These are much better display figures than play figures.

Hopefully they'll improve the next waves or they'll lose a collector or three...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really the same, December 5, 2007
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars

They're kind of close to the real G.I. Joes of my childhood, but not really the same. They're clearly lower-quality products. There are more joints, but none of them move very well, and they're kind of overkill - my figures arms don't need to move in 4 places. The waist join is kind of floppy, so they don't stand up very well, and the head is strangely forward, so they look like they're hunched over a bit.

On a good note, they do all come with a lot of guns, knives, belts, and so forth. They must have saved that extra plastic from around the waist and put it into making guns. They're ok as a nostalgic piece of fun, but they're not the same. Then again, what is?

I'm sure all Gi Joe fans and collectors get that feeling when they see new figures. I got this feeling once again when I purchased this collection. Overall, the figures look really nice, and they can move a whole lot more (except at the waist). I would recommend this for collectors only, these figures are very fragile, unless you know what you are doing. These are fun toys for poses and what not, they remind of just how fast life passes
Highly recommended for collectors only!
Enjoy!

2.0 out of 5 stars The American Hero...now made in China & it shows, December 17, 2008

The feeling of these action figures is very different that the feel when they were still made in America with a higher quality plastic. They are obviously made much cheaper now, which I'm sure was the whole point...however the product really does show the cheapness.
My 7 year old loves GI Joe and spends hours setting up zones all down the hall in every doorway. He has several, some were my 14 year old sons from 10 years ago and the new ones have already started to break beyond repair. At least there were 5, maybe 1 or 2 will make it.
My boys are not rough with their toys at all - the little one will even wipe them off before putting them away if they get dusty - so it's not an issue that he is too hard on them.
If your buying this for your children to truly play with them, just be aware that they are not super sturdy, but I'm sure they will get enjoyment from them. Too bad we had to send even our most loved American Hero to China...it shows.

Perfect for the collecter! My love for Joe toys is largely based on the art work. This box set has art work on the front flap, a beautiful window beneath which allows for dispalying the figures in the unopened packaged, and tons of art work on the back! There's also 5 personnel file cards included that are already cut out! Also comes with a super cool GI Joe Logo that can be displayed with the figs if one should choose to remove them from the display box - and it plays the GI Joe battle cry!! I lucked out and paid approximately $[...] for this set, but even at 20-some dollars, I would consider it money well spent.
