4.0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Mom, December 29, 1999
By A Customer
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pokemon Yahtzee Jr. (Toy)
My six-year old son received this game for Christmas and we all had fun playing with it! It is easy for preschoolers to understand, with the object of the game to roll five of the same characters as in traditional Yahtzee. The only confusion may stem from the "wild card" character Ditto; some younger children may not understand why Ditto counts as another Pikachu, etc. Besides reinforcing matching skills, it also teaches counting as you count across the board to each of your markers to total your score at the end of the game. I gave this game a 3-star rating on durability only because the score board and character markers are made of cardboard. It is a very cute game and your little Pokemon trainer will have hours of fun with it!

Finally a game that Pokemon lovers of all ages can enjoy! My three children, ages 9, 7 and 4 can easily understand and play this game together without fighting! My husband and I have even joined in and had fun playing this game. Matching and counting skills are emphasized which really benefits the younger children. The best money I've invested in a game yet!

5.0 out of 5 stars We love Pokemon Yahtzee, January 9, 2000

My 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter love playing the Pokemon Yahtzee game that they received for Christmas. It not only teaches addition and matching skills, it promotes family togetherness. Mom and Dad love playing this game too! This game also teaches the value of cheering other players on and how to be a graceful winner. These are important aspects in life! My son takes this game with him everywhere we go. He takes it to the babysitter, my daughters dance class, and to school. We love this game so much that we are going to buy another one so that we can keep one in the car at all times to take with us everywhere. The game has easy to follow directions and rules that young children can follow. It is so much fun that we play it every night!

This game works for my 7 year old son and my 4 year old twins- it is easy enough for the younger kids but challenging enough for the older ones. It is also a quick enough game for the younger kids to stay interested. Teaches color recognition, counting and taking turns. Be warned though- the pokemon chips are cardboard; they should make them plastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Playable & fun toy, April 29, 2002

Both my kids, ages 7 & 4, get this game out and play it by themselves, or with anyone else they can get to play with them. The younger child had a little problem grasping the columns starting with zero instead of one, but soon figured it out. The biggest bone of contention is the color of the chips -- both want to use the blue chips. The older child is in the 1st grade this year, so simple addition is something he can now do, so he keeps score, & is really proud that he can. Any game that they Want to play, & Can play without me playing Every time with them, is worth getting.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good game, July 8, 2002

My 4-year-old is in a big Pokemon phase and this little game suits him perfectly. It is just right for his ability level and attention span. To liven it up we shout as we roll the dice, "Picacu, (or insert appropriate Pokemon name here) I choose you!" I enjoy Yahtzee as an adult, so I'm hoping this will move him along the path toward being able to play the regular version in the not-too-distant future.
