3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but not exceptional, January 2, 2006

Brought this on sale for ten bucks. It is worth that but not much more. My 5YO has fun with it and the moles are cute. The plastic hammer is a bit clumsy so he uses his hands a lot. This toy has no educational value. Although this toy is mediocre at best, it is better than having to go to Chuck-E-Cheese or some other equally replusive place.

Note: If you have the white unit: there is an On/Off switch along the side that is rather difficult to see. Make sure to turn it on before assuming the toy is DOA. (Yes, I found the switch, but it took me a few seconds)

3.0 out of 5 stars Gotta hit it kinda hard..., December 21, 2007

The big flaw here is that you have to hit the mole just hard enough. It's hard plastic, so if you don't hit it just right, the hard plastic mallet slips right off the hard plastic game board and you don't get a winning hit. This may be easy for a 5-6 year old to do, but my 3 year old has a hard time with this (no, he's not dumb -- he's quite accomplished at PS2) So if this is for a younger child, make sure they place the console between their feet to hold it still or on a rubber mat. Otherwise, it's fun enough!
