You can't hardly get ahold of the ships or the pegs to place them or get them into the holes.

This is a piece of junk and is not worth buying.

I used several sets of these for a logic class for kids this past week. It works for the most part, but even if you are careful, some of the pegs are going to fall out of the upper board as you play. The tops will snap off if you wiggle them too much, though you can get them to go back on. In addition, if you have to insert a peg between several other pegs, there isn't very much room to maneuver. Finally, the letters and numbers marking the grid are a little hard to make out if the lighting or your eyes aren't good.

In a pinch these work, but they aren't great.

I played Battleship when I was a kid and had a great time with it. We got this travel set to play with our kids when stuck waiting places. We also figured it would help with understanding cartesian coordinates and logic.

It has proven to still be a fun game and is indeed portable. The cases are probably about 5 inches by 4 inches by 1 inch. This is a lot smaller than the traditional version, which was perhaps 10 inches by 8 inches by 1.5 inches. The portability is nice, but does come at a price: little tiny pegs. (As mentioned in all the other reviews). The pegs are hard for big fingered adults and hard for kids with developing coordination. There are also a ton of the little pegs, which is good because they are hard not to drop on the floor. You'll lose pegs, and over time find pegs squirrelled away in the nooks and cranny of car seats, etc. Don't sweat it. You'll probably still have enough pegs for the game. Not to mention, you may lose the set before you run low on pegs.

So yes, the pegs are small and kind of annoying, but the game is fun and worth the money.

This is a nice concept to have a compact Battleship travel game but the pieces were too small (like pins) and hard to put. It is hard to see the coordinates and the plastic looks and feels cheap. It is better to have the full size for this game.

I had to get tweezers to handle the pegs. My 8 year old daughter has the same issue. Its a great idea, I would love Battleship like this IF the pegs are given a ball on the end to allow grasping by human sized hands. The tiny pegs are about 5/8 of an inch long and a little more than 1/8 of an inch wide at their widest. Its not really enjoyable struggling with the pegs every single move.
If you buy it, it will annoy you as well.
Sorry :-c

When searching for this game, my hubby and I were disappointed that the original game has been changed to a much cheaper cardboard version. We knew with 3 boys that it would never hold up. So, we started searching for other options. We found this travel version. It's small, very small but our 7 year old still loves to play and it's just like the older version. Bonus...we can travel with it easily too!

I bought this game for the kids to play while traveling but the little pieces are a nightmare. They sit loosely inside the case and when you open the case (which is not super easy) they spill out. The pieces are so small that my 8 year old had trouble handling them. We found little pieces in the car for weeks afterward. We will just use it for a play-at-home game instead.

I loved playing Battleship as a kid. I bought it for my daughter as a gift. She loves the premise, but the pieces fall out of the top board and she can't remember what she has already guessed, the top half snaps off mid-game revealing where your ships are, and it was very overall very cheaply done. I'm going to get a full-sized version now so we can actually finish a single game - I recommend you save your money on this and do the same.

Definitely not what I expected. I realize it's travel size but the quality is pretty cheap and pretty impossible to play on the road since the super tiny pieces fill the tiny compartment so I can a see them falling everywhere and getting lost. Even playing here at home was a challenge because of the tiny size! Would definitely not have purchased this if I saw in person
