Product Details

Product Description

Detailed 1/48 scale model kit of the Curtiss P-40, a World War II era American single-seat, single engine fighter aircraft. Coined the "Warhawk" by the U.S. Army Air Corps, the P-40 was also called the "Tomahawk" and the "Kittyhawk" by the British and the Soviet Union, who also operated the P-40 during the Second World War. The P-40 was a rugged and heavy aircraft with excellent dive performance, which earned it the nickname "Lead Sled" and made it a good ground-attack platform as well. Although the P-40 lacks maneuverability at low speeds when comparing to the Japanese Zero, pilots who flew the P-40 held their own against the Japanese Zero by flying to the Warhawk's strengths in dogfights. Claire Chennault's AVG Flying Tigers achieved spectacular results flying the P-40 during the early stages of the War in the Pacific and help the "Warhawk" achieve immortality in aviation history. This 1/48 scale assembly kit by Hasegawa features the P-40N, the final production version of the P-40, and the kit comes with decals for marking of two different U.S.A.A.F. P-40N: 502nd F.SQ. 337th F.G. Code: 47 1944 and 7th F. SQ. 49th F.G. Code: 16.
