Product Description

Highly detailed 1/32 scale model kit of the World War II German Luftwaffe dive-bomber Junkers Ju87 Stuka. The screaming sound it made during a dive bombing run struck fear in all who have been on the receiving end of a Stuka attack. Effective as it was as a ground attack aircraft, the Stuka proved to be extremely vulnerable to attack by fighters. By the Battle of Britain in 1940, the Stuka design was considered outdated, but without a suitable replacement, the Luftwaffe continued to produce the aging dive bomber up to the end of World War II. The Ju87D variant was a later production of the type. The D-series feature more streamlining, better armor protection, a more powerful engine (Jumo 211 J-1 engine with 1,401 horsepower), and improved armaments. Although the Stuka continued to perform well in ground attack missions when it has adequate fighter protection, the type's Achilles? heel became quite apparent, as increasing numbers of Ju87s of all types fall easy prey to prowling Allied fighters. This 1/32 model kit depicts the Ju87D-5 variant, and the kit comes with detailed cockpit, detailed exterior, and parts to construct two life-like figures (pilot & rear gunner).
