This review is from: Hatchet: With Connections (HRW Library) (Hardcover)
One of the best books ever written to build a positive self image inside pre teens. It's an exciting story, based on an entirely plausible plot line - A little boy being shunted between divorced parents, who finds himself in a 'real world' where he has to literally think creatively to save himself. He does, but the author takes the reader through an experience of internal questioning and change that will transform the reader. That's why the book is so important. The model of an excellent transition from dependent childhood to independent young adulthood. (I have seen the positive results of this book on several young readers - which is why I continue to give copies as a present to those who need to find themselves.)
