5.0 out of 5 stars The best "darkwave" album of 2008!
William Control's first solo album is a combination of Electro-Rock, Glam and Darkwave. The Gary Numan/Bowie-esk Space pop dance beats make for incredibly catchy songs, and all in all...William Control brings something all of his own. 3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting side project
This is a good release from Aidens front man, a little electronica, ambient feel to it.

William Control's first solo album is a combination of Electro-Rock, Glam and Darkwave. The Gary Numan/Bowie-esk Space pop dance beats make for incredibly catchy songs, and all in all...William Control brings something all of his own. There are so many exciting moments throughout this record. The lyrics are (explicit, BTW, lots of cussing on this album) primarily about WC's disgust for the modern times, his firm athiestic stance against organized superstition, and his devious sexualty. The begining of the album (Track 1. Prologue) is a reference to Johnny Depp's underground true story thriller The Libertine...as William Control proudly assimilates himself to the charachter by declaring "You Will Not Like Me". From here each song builds on different themes...primarily hate. I think that for a debut album this is verry impressive, and I hope we see more of WC in the future. William Control is a must have for fans of SHE WANTS REVENGE, BLAQK AUDIO, THE FAINT, and to some extent...early (Pretty Hate Machine) era of NINE INCH NAILS.

5.0 out of 5 stars My name is William Control..., January 10, 2009
This review is from: Hate Culture (Audio CD)
I bought this album on a whim. It was in my iTunes selection box as "something I would like". I listened to a few clips and was immediately intrigued.

Mixing various different sounds together, Hate Culture surrounds the fictional persona of William Control (IRL, the lead singer of Aidan) and his last night on earth. It's his last night on earth because as the album progresses we discover he plans to kill himself because he's so disgusted at the state of the world (and at himself depending on how you read into it).

I thoroughly enjoyed this album. It's a little hard to listen to some of the lyrics, but as Mr Control put it so eloquently at the beginning of the CD "You will not like me." While I beg to differ with that statement as a whole, there are some lyrics that more sensitive listeners will balk at. Not for very long, though- the sheer quality of this CD will win them over!

4.0 out of 5 stars Evil Synth-Rock!, June 22, 2009

I like this album just fine. WC is a dirty little goth boy from Seattle who mostly sings about sex and hate. WC is pretty much darkwave music, but WC is way darker than bands like The Cruxshadows and Bella Morte from the same genre. I have a feeling that WC is going to get better and better as he countinues to make music....err, only as WC. I don't care one squirt for his hardcore band Aiden. The music of William Control is way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way better than Aiden.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great listening experience when reading horror books, June 7, 2009

The vampire/gothic/underground experience is a nice thrill and compliments the read of something in this vein, highly recommended if you like stuff like Christa Faust's "Control Freak." I like the beats and think he did a great job holistically with this project.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite a Surprise..., November 14, 2008
This review is from: Hate Culture (Audio CD)
First off, I HATE the band Aiden(which this is the lead singer of). However, when I saw this at a local record store, I still had the urge to sample what I expected to be more run of the mill emo garbage. I was pleasantly surprised to hear something kinda like Goth-drenched new wave. Not as complex as industrial or synthpop, but far better than anything else I've ever heard that came from Victory Records.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will Francis...William Control, January 6, 2009
This review is from: Hate Culture (Audio CD)
I was really surprised when I heard this cd for the first time. I am so used to hearing him in Aiden and thjis cd has a "techno" sound. It is a great album of him, realeasing his anger. You have got to listen to this!
