"I Hate To Exercise Book" by Charlotte Hayes,
By Ward A. Williamson (Barrie, ON Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The I Hate to Exercise Book for People with Diabetes (Paperback)
Charlotte Hayes presents the virtues and importance of exercise in a very thorough yet simplified format. The primary theme she emphasizes is to "stay active". Forget the quick fix solution and make a commitment to a long term lifestyle change. Lifestyle changes are paramount to staying fit, not strenuous exertion. She offers practical suggestions for incorporating exercise into day to day activities. Set achievable goals and build on them. The basic principals of exercise are the solution to most health problems. An extremely well written book.

Easy ways to get that good feeling from exercise,
By Robert Parker (Atlanta, GA 30309) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The I Hate to Exercise Book for People with Diabetes (Paperback)
This book was laying on the reading table at my Dr.'s office waiting room. After scanning it, I ordered my own copy. The book points out so many really simple ways to increase the amount of excercise I can get on a daily basis-----in the course of routine activities. And I notice the difference in my overall feeling of wellbeing, and increased stability in my blood test numbers.Robert Parker Atlanta, GA

A COMMON SENSE APPROACH TO HEALTH AND FITNESS,
By April White (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The I Hate to Exercise Book for People with Diabetes (Paperback)
A great book for anyone interested in improving thier lifestyle and quality of life. It is for people who are not fond of a structured exercise program and/or have a diabetic condition. It is well ordered and follows accepted standards of health and fitness. Throughout the book it reinforces the idea that there is no quick fix, that it is a change in lifestyle that is necessary to achieve a better quality of life. Charlotte offers many examples of how to turn daily activities into low impact easy to do exercise following through to some basic exercise and stretching routines. She always stresses setting achievable short term goals to track your progress, increase your fitness awareness, and give you a feeling of accomplishment. Charlotte also includes information specifically for people with diabetes, discussing health and safety concerns with exercise, including blood glucose control through pattern management. This is a book on how to get started taking your first step, and subsequent steps. Slow and steady for the long haul.

It sure beats dieting!!!,
By Darcy Holding (Sparta, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The I Hate to Exercise Book for People with Diabetes (Paperback)
I really liked this book because I am a complete failure when it comes to diets and I would prefer to find easy ways to exercise rather than dieting. The book provides some really good tips on how to incorporate healthful exercise and stretching into your everyday life without making you feel like you are really working out. I have had memberships at several gyms over the years but I gave them up because I never got around to using them so it was a waste of money. I feel like this book could have saved me a lot of wasted time and money if I had it ten years ago. I also learned how to do these everyday exercises in the best possible way to maximize the health benefit. I have now been doing the exercises in the book for five weeks and I already feel so much better about myself. The exercises are very easy to memorize so after awhile you just find yourself doing them without thinking. It is definitely working for me and I still get to eat what I want to eat (within reason) without dieting!!!
