Bush Buster,
By
This review is from: The I Hate George W. Bush Reader: Why Dubya Is Wrong About Absolutely Everything (Paperback)
I will readily admit that I am no fan of Bush. In fact, the local democrats in my area refer to him as "Dumbya" and the Commander in Thief and Puppet Figurehead, sobriquets I feel he has truly earned. There are, as another reviewer on the US Amazon boards pointed out many reasons to hate and fear this "incompetent buffoon of a president," which is a chillingly apt description of Dumbya. One almost wishes he was a demagogue because one has to have some intelligence to be a demagogue.
Clint Willis has written some excellent, trenchant essays about the Commander in Thief as have other notable and distinguished authors such as Molly Ivins, Greg Palast, Michael Moore, Paul Krugman and Joe Conanson. These authors write with brilliant detail, offering levity to balance out the dire situations this president has caused. Dumbya's tenure in office is of the emperor's new clothes genre and it is long past time others admitted that the emperor is naked! Naked! It is galling and appalling to hear the malapropisms directly from this president. It is even more alarming and horrifying to see his glaring misdeeds and atrocious administration replete with scandals. This book pulls the news pundits' reports on Dumbya and his atrocious administration and the reasons for why so many view it this way. For those who support Bush, this book will certainly provide input from a different perspective.

This review is from: The I Hate George W. Bush Reader: Why Dubya Is Wrong About Absolutely Everything (Paperback)
This is an excellent book! My wife gave it to me as a birthday gift. I just finished it before the second "presidential" debate. The book could serve as a primer for the debate. In the book there is a chapter on Dubya's language. He vey much uses "I", in short: he personalizes the state a la Luis XIV. If you question Dubya, you question the US. The he uses statements that are either sweeping, or detailed. Both difficult to contradict, since they are not actually false, but not actually true either. He paints everything in black and white, right or wrong. Kerry, when in a more statesmanlike manner, tries to say that for a president, things cannot be that simple, gets mocked.
Enough on that. Many chapters detail the calculated lies of the administration. Some of them are overly detailed, but that just make them so much more painful to read. Luckily there are several cartoons, Dubya gaffes and quotes, and games included in the book, to give the reader the relief fo laughter. The most shocking facts are left to last: the republican spin doctors use the fact that americans want to believe that the US President is doing his best for the country. By careful spin and propaganda they have twisted the mindframe of Americans so that questioning Dubya is equal to questioning the US Constitution or the American Way of Life. Of course, media gets its share too. Bush is treated much more lenient by the media than any other president. Scary stuff.

Great book. Crummy title,

This review is from: The I Hate George W. Bush Reader: Why Dubya Is Wrong About Absolutely Everything (Paperback)
This is a great book that really outlines many of the wrong-misguided antics of our present administration. I have used this book with my kids(11 and 13), it's set-up really well to have family discussions with small sections of 5-15 pages. I wish the name would have been changed. I don't hate the president, however I dislike his policies and his agenda. Many of his ideas were good in conception but lacked the backing to make them effective(ie No Child Left Behind). And many of the ideas were wrong to begin with(ie Stem Cell Research Ban). It's a good book to get you started, and will give you a good basis on which to research on the current president.

A wonderful hate-fest for Bush haters (and there are a lot of them)! And plenty of facts along with the invective. I didn't agree with absolutely everything in the book, but a lot of it was right on target. Wonderful essays, cartoons and quotes from the Misunderestimated Man. Why should the cons have all the fun being partisan and nasty?I was a bit surprised not to see some negative review by an outraged conservative, but then, would a Bush partisan actually ever buy this book?

Why Does EVERYBODY Hate This Guy So Much?,

This review is from: The I Hate George W. Bush Reader: Why Dubya Is Wrong About Absolutely Everything (Paperback)
That's a strictly rhetorical question, of course. There are virtually hundreds of great reasons to hate/fear our dangerously incompetent buffoon of a president, not all of which are described in detail in this terrific new collection of thought provoking essays edited by Clint Willis. Writers as disparate as Paul Krugman, Molly Ivins, Greg Palast, Joe Conanson, and Michael Moore offer intelligent, impassioned and often darkly humorous pieces about nearly all the egregious misdeeds of Dumbya and his appalling administration. It's been incredibly painful for this country to have been forced to watch all of the shocking scandals as they unravel on the nightly news. THE I HATE GEORGE W. BUSH READER helps put into perspective the onslaught of outrages that have caused the vast majority of the American populace to shudder in horror. For the few remaining Bush-apologists out there, reading this little gem of a book should act as a profound awakening.

A Mixed Bag on Bush,
By J.L. Populist (WI,USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The I Hate George W. Bush Reader: Why Dubya Is Wrong About Absolutely Everything (Paperback)
The strength of this book is its quotes. Some humorous, some seriously arrogant, and some poignant.
There was a chapter on Ari Fleischer and his evasive tactics that served Bush II so well during press conferences. One of the Republican whoppers that was dispelled was the fictional "Charley the janitor", an invention of Dick Armey, lately known as the wizard behind the curtain of the Tea Party. There was another interesting piece on the Republican press and how they spin tax cuts for the wealthy to the poor and the working poor. Then there is this quote from David Stockman on Reagan's 1981 tax bill- "[Supply-side economics] was always a trojan horse to bring down the top rate...Do you realize the greed that came to the forefront? The hogs were really feeding." There were some humorous mis-speak quotes from Dan Quayle that sound very similar to Bushisms made dubiously famous by Bush 41.You will find a collection of Bushisms here unrivaled by most books. Another interesting subject was the close ties between George W. Bush and Ken Lay. On page 393 there is a quote from Harry S. Truman- "Republicans are....bloodsuckers with offices in Wall Street, princes of privilege,plunderers."- Harry S. Truman,1948. Recent history suggests that Harry called that one correctly! This book is mostly rhetoric and poorly titled but there is some very good reading from authors such as Greg Palast, Senator Robert Byrd, Stanley Kutler, and The Onion. Greg Palast contributed some investigative reporting on election 2000. Very good information that you won't find in many American news sources.

People who give this book one star because of the title are completely missing the point. It isn't real HATE - it's frustration and it's a jab at the fact that it is the conservative blowhards like rush and billo that only deal in such words. The book is full of intelligent, well reasoned, and objective essays about the failings -- be they political, moral, intellectual, etc -- of our president.

This review is from: The I Hate George W. Bush Reader: Why Dubya Is Wrong About Absolutely Everything (Paperback)
Not much to say - preemptive distruction of a country based on a lie, gas at all-time highs, a killer deficit, a country hated around the world, science out the window, the environment threatened badly, tax cuts for the wealthiest and the oil/gas industry - I could go on and on. This is what Dubya has brought us. AND THIS IS THE PERSON YOU ALL VOTED FOR!!! So, enjoy what you're done, America. I will sit back and curse on every page of this book, understanding what a true piece of feces this Dubya is. Thank you, Clint Willis, for your insight and perception. But it's over! The disgusting damage has already been done. Rumsfeld, Rove, Cheney and the rest of the dogs of this administration are laughing in your face. Tears are rolling down mine!
Thank you for being a patriot and a citizen who loves the United States, Mr. Willis. You are fighting the good fight.

The only thing dumber than George W. Bush, are the people who voted for him. After reading this book, I have an even lower opinion of this moron! And I didn't think it could get any lower. You are ruining our country, please resign as our president! And don't touch Social Security! We are in bad enough shape as it is thanks to you. If you despise this president as much as I do, then this is the book to get.
