I found this book exelent and informative. It is short (more a pamphlet than a book)and concise; just what a specialized book should be. It has exelent tips on streatching, strgenthening, care and use of the digits (a climber's best friend). Perhaps the greatest thing in the book are the 5 and 10 minute training regimens. I got this originally to get free shipping (I needed to buy something cheap to tip my amount over $25). Even at the bargain basement price, this book is pretty much worthless, I hate to say. Contains such gems as: "Wear loose, comfortable clothes when you stretch. If your Levi's are too tight, it won't be an enjoyable experience." (p.16) "Fruits, vegetables, meats and...

I found this book exelent and informative. It is short (more a pamphlet than a book)and concise; just what a specialized book should be. It has exelent tips on streatching, strgenthening, care and use of the digits (a climber's best friend). Perhaps the greatest thing in the book are the 5 and 10 minute training regimens. I, like Prichard, hate to train. I'd rather just get out there and crank. But I can submit myself to 5 minutes in the morning and 10 in the evening. And suprisingly, that's all it's taken to make myself a stornger climbier.

I would recoment this book to anyone who does anything more than recreational climbing. If you push hard regularly, you'll hurt yourself eventually. Training is the best way to prevent this, and "I Hate to Train" is a pretty good place to start.

Invest in books like "Performance Rock Climbing," "The Self-Coached Climber" (this one I wish came out when I started climbing!) and "Training for Climbing."
