Biography

Kevin Michael "GG" Allin (August 29, 1956 - June 28, 1993) was an American punk rock singer-songwriter who performed and recorded with many punk groups during his career. GG Allin is perhaps best remembered for his notorious live performances which typically featured transgressive acts, such as Allin defecating and urinating onstage, rolling in feces and often consuming excrement, performing… Read more in Amazon's GG Allin Store

Editorial Reviews

22 tracks of pure GG assembled by GG's brother, Merle, and original executive producer, Mykel Board.

From the All Music Guide:
This is a compilation of live performances from various points in his career. Of course it's missing a great deal of relevant information and the recording quality is crude. This is probably the best place to be introduced to the demented moron who made obscenity a political statement, as he was still possessed of an intelligible voice on these recordings. He can even carry a tune on the earlier tracks, unthinkable to those familiar only with his later work. His between-song banter with the audience is hilariously stupid. It features guest appearances from Dinosaur Jr.'s J. Mascis and the MC5's Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thompson. Most of Allin's earlier recordings are out of print, so if you're a fan, find this. — Steve Huey

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome album of the king of SCUM GG Allin!!, April 25, 2004
This review is from: Hated in the Nation (Reis) (Audio CD)
This is not a studio album. It is, in fact a compilation of studio tracks and live material from 3 or 4 different performances. Still it lives in my mind as one of, if not THE BEST GG Allin album. This was my first GG album purchased in 91' when I was only 11 ( no wonder I'm so @#$%ed up!) and I STILL listen to it all the damn time. The version I bought back then didn't have the three bonus tracks thats on the current version though so your getting an even better deal now.
I love so many of the songs on this album, all of them in fact, but some I just love so much better than others. If your allready a GG fan, Cool, trust me, buy this album, its not just another live reshash of previously released stuff. Its quality merits it its own status as a full album. For those of you who have never listened to GG, this would be a PERFECT place to start. Go ahead, take a chance on the other side...whats the matter? Afraid you might like it?
This album needs to be preserved and shown to all the future generations of de-generates and juvenile wastoids just like it was to me back in 91' in Thrasher magazine. After I read the article I just had to go out and find the album. And my life has just gone steadily downhill ever since....Mission Accomplished!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but "Dirty Love Songs" is better, April 6, 2003

This is an infamous 1988 compilation by GG Allin. But compared to "Dirty Love Songs" the songs sound unmixed and it definitely needs remastering. It features all the classics of course, of later GG. I'd suggest getting Dirty Love Songs and then going from there like I did though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best GG album ever!, September 28, 2008
By
This is by far one of the best collections of GG songs and audience interactions ever put together. Even if only for the New York Superscum songs that don't appear anywhere else (in particular "Blood For You"), if you consider yourself a GG fan and don't own this record, you MUST buy it IMMEDIATELY! And if you're just getting into GG, then this also serves as a terrific introduction to a very interesting recording artist. If you don't like GG, then why are you even reading this?
