An essential for students of millinery,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hats Design and Construction (Spiral-bound)
As someone with a serious interest in Millinery, I found this text book to be extremely informative. Most areas of hat-making are covered in step by step detail. This is a text I would recommend to anyone intested in the various methods of hatmaking, from sewn to blocked felts and straws. It even contained small samples of foundation materials, which I have found really useful when order materials in the US from Australia where we call them by different names.

Basic text for learning millinery on one's own. One of the best and most complete instructions books available. The broad range of topics includes workroom equipment and supplies, complete step-by-step instructions on how to make patterns and sew various styles of hats: wooden blocks, felts, straws, bridal headdresses and children's hats. A wonderful resource as it contains actual fabric samples used for foundations, coverings and trim.

This review is from: Hats Design and Construction (Spiral-bound)
Vey clearly written, loaded with very practical information. It is an excellent 'how-to' working manual, not a book of hat pictures. A wide variety of hat and brim styles and their construction is dealt with. Material swatches and illustrations for flat patterns are included.A worthwhile manual for milliners. Excellent value
