5.0 out of 5 stars An almost flawless EP that no CD collector should be without, August 1, 2006
This review is from: Hats Off to the Insane (Audio CD)
Being a fan of Therapy?'s "Auto Surgery" and "Teethgrinder" from the arcade playstation hit "Road Rash", I decided to pop into a local music haven to check out some of their stuff. Among the CDs I found was pretty much everything Therapy? had released - old and new; which struck me because I felt most of their albums were probably like hidden treasures that one would be fortunate to find. I fingered through some titles and ended up going home with "Troublegum" and this EP.

Upon slipping the disc into my car stereo, I was instantly blown back in my seat by the huge guitar riffs of "Screamager". I knew right off that the lettuce I had laid down for this piece was definitely worth it. Next up was a song that I was quite familiar with but sounded even better as high-quality CD audio. The lyrics of Auto Surgery are a real mind trip, "I can feel your fingers, feel your fingers in my head. Going through the wreckage, through the wreckage of my thoughts".

The rest of the EP takes you through a great trip of hard rock mentality and thought-provoking lyrics. One might look at this EP and think "wow, only 6 songs. Is this really worth the dough?" Or you may see it in person and notice that the timings of the songs make the disc equal just under 20 minutes in length. So you say how can 6 (short) songs be worth purchasing? Answer : When it's Therapy?'s "Hats Off To the Insane".

I enjoy this short but sweet EP much more than the full-length "Troublegum". There's a certain grungy punch to it that later releases just lack. It's nothing short of a great disc.

If you can find it, buy it.
