5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Illustrated, Beautifully Told, November 2, 2005
This review is from: Hattie, Get A Haircut! (Hardcover)
I don't know a single child who isn't afraid of his/her first haircut. Hattie Get A Haircut takes children on a magical adventure to a land where long hair causes many mishaps and attracts the strangest things, like nesting birds. In the end, Hattie not only gets her hair cut, but she found out it wasn't as scarey as she once thought. A bonus to the book is the fact that Hattie's stuffed bear mimicks Hattie's facial expressions, which makes it a fun way to turn this book into an interactive adventure as you and your child not only look for the bear throughout the book, but mimick Hattie as well.

We have been searching for a child's book dealing with this dilema for a few years now with zero luck. Jenna Glatzer, may the Good Lord shower you and your family with mountains of blessings for bringing this flawless gem into lives! The illustrations are delightful compliments to the perfectly-paced read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever and Cute Book - My Kids Love It, November 15, 2005

This review is from: Hattie, Get A Haircut! (Hardcover)
My 2 & 4 year old kids were quite happy to discover a new book waiting for them after naptime. Hattie has become my 4 year old daughter's favorite book. The illustrations are adorable. The rhymes are cute. My daughter has begun repeating some of Hattie's phrases, and never fails to ask questions about the illustrations, like why there are animals in Hattie's hair during the dream. She loves seeing Hattie's new haircut and wants me to cut her hair the same way (fortunately she doesn't have a haircut phobia, though her hair doesn't grow fast enough to warrant many cuts herself).

Even my 2 year old son sits through the entire reading, staring intently at the page - unusual for a boy that age! As an adult, I can appreciate the story and don't (yet) mind reading it several times a day.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Goddaughter's new favorite!, November 6, 2005

This review is from: Hattie, Get A Haircut! (Hardcover)
I bought this book last week as my goddaughter (5 years old) and I browsed the children's section of our local bookstore. We were initially captivated by the excellent cover illustration, but found the fun, rhyming verse inside to be just as appealing. The young heroine (Hattie), after much resistance, not only finally agrees to get her hair cut, but decides to donate it. At her hairdresser's suggestion, she proudly sends her shorn locks to the "Locks Of Love" organization to be used to create a wig for another child who needs it. A positive lesson for young children in helping others. My goddaughter loves the book and has reread it several times in the last few days (with some adult help).

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming, March 26, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hattie, Get A Haircut! (Hardcover)
This is a truely charming book. The whole issue of hair--combing, cutting, etc--was very upsetting to me when I was a small child, and I understand from Moms I work with, it continues to be "one of those kid things!" The book has amazing action and imagination, and the illustrations carry out the theme perfectly! One of those books a parent will not mind reading again and again to their children.
