Book Description

Angel (Pocket) February 1, 2002
An old dark house turns out to be home to something a good deal nastier than things that go bump in the night...An impoverished Cordelia jumps at the chance to win a ton of money by appearing on a 'Survivor' meets 'Real World' reality television show. She can't wait to supplement the meagre cash she makes from saving the world day in and day out. The catch? All she has to do is spend a week in a 'haunted' house, surviving all manner of evil doings staged by the producers. But a mind-numbing vision from The Powers That Be reveals to her that this house is in fact the staging ground for an event more gruesome and dangerous than anything the TV production crew can dream up: a real live ritual sacrifice to a demonic presence. Now Angel, Wesley and Gunn have to get themselves into the house in order to stop the ritual. And the only way in is by going through LA's most demonic law firm: Wolfram and Hart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Angel: Haunted - WHat I thought, April 19, 2002
This review is from: Haunted (Angel) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first Angel book in the series not to feature Doyle as a main character (although he does get a small cameo). Interested, I decided to read. Twenty pages in, I was hooked.

First of all the story is set on a reality TV show which puts people in a Haunted House who are competing for $100,000. Cordelia is on of the contestants and she sees it as sure fire ticket to fame, as she lives with one ghost, so a house full of them shouldn't be a problem. However one her first night Cordelia has a painful vision of Kirsten St. Clair, one of the women who didn't get chosen for the show but nevertheless struck up a friendship with Cordelia.

Menawhile Angel, Wesley and Gunn are debating what's going to happen to Cordy after the show. After all, if she becomes a big star then she proberbly won't be working for them anymore. However when they watch the first show they get a message from Cordy concerning the vision and start investigating.

Sounds good, doesn't it. Well, this was certainly a good read. I would definitly recommend this to any Angel fans. The writing style and characterization is excellent.

Congrats Jeff Marriotte.

5.0 out of 5 stars On par with the show, February 11, 2002
By
This review is from: Haunted (Angel) (Mass Market Paperback)
Finially, the writers of the Angel book series have choosen to update their books to events relating to the TV series. Wesley and Gunn have replaced Doyle and although Fred has not appeared in the novels yet, the story lines from last season and this season have.

In Haunted, Angel is dealing with his emotions surrounding Cordelia as he is doing in the show. Haunted is a well written book with surprises around every turn. Cordelia has won a spot as a contestant on a reality series in a "haunted house". ALthough she at first believes all the events to be made up, she starts to consider other ideas when she begins hearing and seeing things. The contestants are at the mercy of the ghosts as all outside communication has been cut off. Cordelia has the visions now as she does in the TV series and ANgel will do anything to ease her pain. It's one of these visions that draw her to warn Angel over live television about a girl in trouble. Angel and the gang must figure out COrdelia's message and save the girl as well as save COrdelia from the haunted house.

ANyone who enjoys the TV show will much enjoy this novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Haunted - The way Survivor should be, March 12, 2002
By
Timothy Foley (Trumbull, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Haunted (Angel) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Haunted was my first of the Buffy/ Angel Books available and certainly not my last. I've always been fscinated by the show as vampires have always interedted me since Barnabas Collins.

I found the book very enjoyable to read with out the aouthor getting lost in the many plots that end up being one. The ending was quick, exciting and fascinating pulling the whole text into one plot.

Cordelia's role in the book was outstanding although I thought Angel could have played a bit larger role since it is entitled Angel - Haunted.

It's hard to place these books into the timeline associated with the show which someone who is an Angel/Buffy fan should do. Buy this book as it is great fun and the delving into ghosts varies from the normal demon hunting lives of our heroes although the demons are still pulling all the strings.

I'm onto read BTVS Book of Fours and soon to start the Giles book. Look forward to reading other books by the author as well
