Eerie interesting Eastern Shore tales,
By
This review is from: Haunted Eastern Shore (MD): Ghostly Tales from East of the Chesapeake (Haunted America) (Paperback)
An interesting, easy, and historical read about haunted areas of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Was thoughtful and varied in the different counties covered within the Eastern Shore with historical details about the land and the people who lived there. Great book to devour while curled under the covers on a rainy afternoon! Would highly recommend especially for native Eastern Shoremen or travelers interested in spooky sites.

Use Haunted Eastern Shore as a Field Guide,

I am a fan of all things Eastern Shore - our nature, our history, our food, and our beautiful bays, marshes and swamps. When exploring the Shore, I often use field guides and maps to discover new places to watch wildlife, kayak, cycle, and find the best seafood restaurants and farm stands. Thanks to Mindie Burgoyne's "Haunted Eastern Shore," I now have a new field guide for exploring our supernatural sites.
I recommend this: plan a day-trip (or 2 or 3) to the Shore using Mindie's book. Arrive early. Start off with a morning paddle just around sunrise. Grab lunch at a locally-owned restaurant. Hike or cycle in the afternoon at one of our parks or refuges. Grab dinner at a crab house. After dinner, choose from one of the publicly-accessible sites featured in "Haunted Eastern Shore." Bring a flashlight, and a friend. Keep your eyes and ears open for Patty Cannon, Big Lizz, Sallie Dean, or for a barred owl calling from the swamp. I promise you, experiences like this will create memories (and maybe nightmares). Happy, haunted traveling!

Mindie Burgoyne has woven intriguing cobwebs of historical fact, first-hand accounts and modern day actual paranormal encounters. The further I read into the book the more engrossed I became in these ghostly, creepy, and spooky tales . A natural story teller, Mindie paints a descriptive picture, bringing the reader on a personal tour to modern day locations around the beautiful haunting beauty of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Don't' pass up this opportunity for a great read - just keep the lights!

I have lived on the Eastern Shore for 10 years now and have an interest in local history. This book is an easy read with numerous stories of local hauntings. Couldn't put it down the first day I got it.....read more than half the book! Nice variety of local legends spread out over the shore, love that the effort of not just concentrating on one area was put in. Interesting stories of places I've never even heard about before, but would love to visit to see for myself. Highly recommended if you're into historical hauntings and are familiar with the area!
