1.0 out of 5 stars Why you should never believe a "psychic"..., September 24, 2011
This review is from: Haunted Echoes: Ghost Story (DVD)
The cover on the DVD looks tempting but that's all there is to this boring, B-grade movie. Even "Paranormal Activity" fairs better.

I'll reveal some "spoilers" to save your time.

Here's the storyline:

A couple loses their only young daughter, Kimberly, to a kidnapper-murderer.

The accused male gets caught and commits suicide before the trial.

Case closed?

The couple move residences and pick a large house that's haunted.
The aggrieved woman spills her suspicions to her sister who's a "senstitive".
They hold a seance with a spiritualist, a "psychic", who passes on a message that the cops got the wrong man in the aggrieved couple and that the "dead girl" was killed by a "priest" (this bias turned out to be wrong).

Things went from bad to worse for the couple from that moment on!
The psychic didn't channel the couple's dead daughter but the spirit of another "dead girl", a former occupant of the house who had died there! As the aggrieved woman so readily believed the psychic and assumed that her dead daughter was trying to tell her something, the sinister ghost played tricks on the woman, resulting in her plotting to kill an innocent man!

Who's this other "dead girl" ghost, you might ask. She was killed in that house because she wanted to steal money and falsely accuse her step-brother of wrong-doing. The couple who moved into the house ended up as playthings for the female ghost who was a liar during her earthly life and continued to remain a liar in the afterlife.

The woman who had lost her daughter at the start of the movie still didn't find any answers at the end of the movie. How is that satisfactory to viewers? She wasn't satisfied with the answers that the cops gave her and insisted in chasing the psychic's false message. She and her husband ended up getting messed up and heading nowhere.

Lessons to learn from this movie:

Never believe anyhing any "psychic" tells you. They're all liars and frauds. Following their vague messages doesn't end up well for anyone who's rational.
Test every spirit.

If you ever buy a haunted house, get the house blessed by a real Catholic priest and lay the wandering soul to rest.

Real life case studies related to the plot of this movie, read:

Beware the Night

One story in the book "Beware the night" is quite similar to this movie. A couple so readily believed a "spirit"'s message and ended up with ruin.

Study what had happened to American Episcopal bishop, James Albert Pike (February 14, 1913 - September 1969), who consulted spiritualists after the death of his son. He himself ended up dead!
