Having moved to the Piedmont area of North Carolina recently I picked up this book for the same reason I picked up Aunt Bea's cookbook, to get a flavor of the region. Well it turned out to be not just a collection of spooky tales but a pretty fun way to learn of the history and viewpoints of people around here. You may or may not see a ghost around the Carolina Theatre but the reminder of what life was like for people when segregation was a way of life is haunting. I applaud the author for unearthing all those stories that you just won't find in most history books.

This book was AWESOME !!
Loaded with photos,this is an excellent narrative combining Facts and Folklore.Not only written for the citizens of Greensboro and the Triad area but also a fascinating read for anyone interested in Folklore and the Paranormal.I highly reccommend this book.
Mrs.Bane's love for the area is apparent as is her affection for the subject matter.

Even though the writing and stories are alright the book is poorly put together. There are several chapters missing from the book that are listed in the table of contents. This is obviously the publishers fault. My assumption is that the author was given the opportunity to read the final draft before the book was printed.

I ordered this item for a christmas gift. upon closer examination found repeating chapters 13&14 missing chapters 15 through 19. Not good. I can't return or resell this defective item. buy at your own risk!
