A wonderful selection of Halloween Blues. Several of the selections are from 1928 through the 30s and ending with the newest one from 1947. Great care was taken to transfer these blues from the original 78s into digital format. The brass solos are beautiful and it is a shame that time has lost the names of the artists. I recommend this album to fans of the blues.

FINALLY! THIS is the Halloween CD you've been waiting for! If you already have CD's filled with "spooky sound effects", haunted noises, and "party music", this is the CD for you. In my quest for fabulous Halloween music, I couldnt help but feel that if I had one Halloween CD I had them all. They're mostly just different mixes of the same bunch of songs. Not that I'm against songs like the Purple People Eater, Ghostbusters, or The Adams Family, they have their place in the scheme of things, but I could'nt help but feel there just HAD to be something more out there in the genra of Halloween music! Well there is--and this is it!! One word to the wise, however, this is a VERY difficult CD to find. Get a hold of one while you can. It took me nearly 2 months to get a copy.

For starters, this is the music swank, jazzy, smart and sassy adult Halloween parties are made of, yet I could really see children enjoying these songs too. Unlike many of today's songs, these tell a type of story. A story you want to sing along with. They're cute and funny, but not in a silly, kid-ish way. More in a cool, standing in a dark alley silhouetted by a street lamp with my with my fedora hat on kind-of way. You'll be tapping your toe and singing along to such lyrics as,

"When it gets too hot for comfort,

and you can't get ice cream cones,

Oh it 'taint no sin

to take off your skin

and dance around in your bones".

Or on the Headless Horseman track,

"He goes a joggin across the land,

holding his noggin right in his hand, Dont stop to figure out a plan, cause you cant reason with a headless man."

This stuff is hilarious!! The album combines all the perfect elements of fun, spooky, swinging, style for the whole family.

This is one GREAT CD

The music was great to listen to, Pop, Jazz and swing from the 1920's, 30's and 40's. It's not an easy CD to find, but well worth the effort. There are no pops or clicks in this old gem. The music from these old 78 rpm records are clear and high quality stereo sound. This is a CD that is great to listen to even if it's not Halloween. Id give it 6 stars!

I bought this when it was at Tower Records on South Street (yes, the street in the Orlons song) in Philadelphia.

This is great stuff, most of it is obscure and hard to come by, just take a listen to the sample sound bytes provided above.

One gets the true feel of those earlier, more relaxed and simpler times with this eclectic collection of period jazz and swing.

As is apparent, the scary theme adds to the over all enjoyment of this music and you'll find that this is delightfully NOT the jazz and swing you've been accustomed to hearing.

As a previous reviewer has said before me, GET THIS IF YOU CAN.
