Product Description

Massachusetts, the birthplace of America, is home to some of the most fascinating haunts in the world. Colonial ghosts still watch over their ancient inns in Concord and Charlemont. A railroad tunnel under the Mohawk Trail is doomed by the spirits of those who perished while digging it. The unearthly shrieks of a banshee in Marblehead chills the very marrow of those who must endure its curse. And phantom trawlers ply the waters near Gloucester. You will also experience tales of reincarnated souls, haunted lighthouses, mythical creatures, and remains of ancient civilizations. Investigations into haunted mansions and taverns reveal that the people of the past still reside with those of the present. Glowing gravestones, witches, ghost towns and haunted quarries are among the encounters that will bring you to the edge of alarm. Forty-one towns and cities hold legends and mysteries that stretch beyond the imagination into the chilling realm of the macabre. Follow, if you dare.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreadable, November 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a complete disappointment. Not only is this book a rehash of other stories, but I found the prose to be unreadable. This guy needs to go back to school and learn the basic rules of grammar and sentence structure. My advice to anyone who wants to learn about the ghosts of New England is to buy anything Bob Cahill has written on the subject. Don't waste your money on this mess!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book!, October 27, 2009
By renniespice (Rhode Island) - See all my reviews
I have to say I liked this book from the get go! I enjoyed reading about all the places. Some I knew and some I am now dying to visit! I did find that he wrote about proof in his experiences. Thanks Thomas and again, look forward to the next one!

4.0 out of 5 stars History or Legends?, June 27, 2009
By Peter Yarmouth "Yarmouth" (medford, ma United States) - See all my reviews
The combination of more familiar historical locations and erie legends along with the authors penchant for storytelling makes his a fast read. But if you choose to, you can read one city or town at a time.
So sit alone by the fire and hear about Peter Rug, Hannah Magee, and Thomas 's tales of who haunts the Borden house in Fall River and lots more to read about.

You will be able to tell from the get go which locations the author favors. There is good information on the locations but the book lacks photo evidence. Read more
