Book Description

"I don't believe in ghosts. It's true—I promise. But you know what? I also won't flash my headlights at Flo's grave because I'm pretty sure she’ll show up. I won't go into the Ogden Exchange building by myself, not even in broad daylight. I won't spend the night in Room 1106 of the Ben Lomond Hotel and I won't drive through the North Ogden Divide in the dark. I’ve learned not to take pictures of the former Dead Haven building or faces will appear in the windows, revealing people who shouldn’t be there—who aren't there. I don't believe in ghosts, I really don't, but Ogden is haunted. It's as simple as that. Spirits walk these streets at night."

So begins Haunted Ogden: A Ghostly Guide to Utah's Spookiest City. This creepy collection of genuine ghost stories, as told by Ogden locals, is a perfect tool for hunting down the most haunted spots in Junction City. Topics include the story of Florence Grange, the ghost of Ogden City Cemetery, including an investigation of how she really died; the Ogden Exchange Building; the Ben Lomond Hotel; the North Ogden Divide; Union Station; Dead Haven; and many other places.

This book is not for the faint of heart. If you want to be able to comfortably live in Ogden, Utah, completely ignorant to its population of wandering spirits and specters watching from windows, then don't get this book. However, if you're looking for adventure, then this guide will get you started. Even if you don't actually go ghost hunting yourself, Haunted Ogden is a fun read, with first person accounts of those who have ventured into the dark places and lived to tell about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ogden has more than its share of Ghosts and Spooks! October 22, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
First, you should know that I did contribute to this book.

But I am so proud of the work that Antonio Cavallo did tracking down so many people to give their stories of Florence Grange (popularly known as Flo Grange) and the cemetery in Ogden. Little did I know about all the other ghosts, spooks, phantoms, strange happenings, and unexplained mysteries in Ogden, Utah. I'm very much a skeptic, but I felt the hair raise along the back of my neck as I read about the weirdness on the North Ogden Divide. That road is a strange place!

2.0 out of 5 stars Hardly a Guide March 4, 2012
By Shane
Format:Kindle Edition
This book started out really strong. The research and detail in the section on Flo was very nice. After that section it just became a collection of stories. It seemed as though this was a college project that had a list of requirements and once the requirements were met the book just became filler.
Entertaining but a bit disappointing.

More About the Author

Antonio Cavallo was born and grew up in Escondido, California. He was first published in Boy's Life when he was 11, with the joke "It's a good thing Thomas Edison invented the light bulb! Otherwise, we'd have to watch TV in the dark!" Sadly, Cavallo still tells this joke. As an older teen and young adult, Antonio contributed to several newspapers and magazines, and battled in the Great 'Zine Wars of the mid-1990s. These days, Antonio mostly writes about ghosts, booze, his bratty cat, and anything else that captures his attention long enough to be recorded. He lives in Ogden, Utah.
