This review is from: The Haunted Palace (Disney's the Little Mermaid) (Paperback)
The Little Mermaid ranks as one of my favorite movies of all time, but while everyone is gushing over Ariel, I am squealing over her six older sisters. They only have bit parts in the first movie, they don't show up at all in the sequel, and I don't remember them much in the TV show either. That's always disappointed me. I love the prequel movie because the sisters get much bigger roles, but I still wanted more of them. I had gotten one of the novels at a bookstore years ago, and on a whim I decided to search out the other books in the series, hoping that the sisters would be featured in them. I was not disappointed! Each of the books has big roles for all of the girls, and their personalities are well defined. And I know these books are meant for kids, but they are very good books on their own. I greatly enjoy reading and re-reading all of the novels, and I am way above the suggested age "limit". You don't have to be a kid to enjoy these books. The sisters and their dad go to visit a family friend in the Artic, and after being told stories of hauntings going on in the ice palace, they are convinced they are seeing things around every corner. But are they really seeing ghosts? The plot flows smoothly, the characters are well written, and the pictures spaced throughout are very pretty. I recommend this to any Little Mermaid fan. |
