A well written book filled with historical facts coupled with ghostly allure. Richard Southall quickly catches the readers attention with his book Haunted Route 66. This book not only appealed to my interest in the supernatural but also to my interest in history. A good read for anyone interested in either history or stories of ghostly hauntings.Haunted Route 66: Ghosts of America's Legendary Highway

Haunted Route 66 is well-researched. Reading it makes me want to pack for a road trip to visit sites described. My only complaint: I'd like to see more active verbs used in sentences. As a writer, passive verbs are one of my pet peeves although I realize that an author cannot avoid all passive verbs in nonfiction.

The section on The Sycamore Inn alone is so full of historical inaccuracies that it makes me wonder whether any actual research was done for this book (For instance, John Rains was not murdered in the inn. He was killed traveling through modern-day LaVerne/San Dimas. This is just the beginning of the issues with this section.)
Enjoy the book as a collection of invented ghost stories, if you want, but don't expect to come away with any actual historical information.

Richard is wonderful at drawing you in to the book. This book is an easy read with lots of information and history. Richard's previous book was just as wonderful! I recommend it to everyone.
