4.0 out of 5 stars Celtic Traditional and Folk Music Goodness, July 14, 2009
This review is from: The Haunting (Audio CD)
(I would give this album a 4.5 if I could)
The Haunting, released in 1997, solidifies Clandestine's place in the Celtic music world. They are amazing musicians and vocalists with a knack for creating inspiring music. One of the best things about this band is that they have stripped away the current and pop influences from the music they play, much as peeling the layers back on a heavily painted piece of wood to show the natural beauty of the grain itself.

Clandestine is: Emily Dugas (congas, bodhran, percussion, vocals); Jennifer Hamel (vocals, guitar); E.J. Jones (Highland bagpipe, pennywhistle, back vocals); Gregory McQueen (fiddle, bodhran, back vocal); with guest Giancarlo Caffarena on fretless bass. All musicians shine brightly on this album, and it is apparent that they have spent many hours shedding on their respective instruments.

This album, in my humble opinion, is not as polished as it's follow-up, "To Anybody at All." That said, this album is still full of rip-roaring jigs and reels and some from-the-heart ballads, with full-bodied, beatiful harmonies. Discover Clandestine, one of the best Celtic music groups out-there.
