The Haunting of Kildoran Abbey,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Haunting of Kildoran Abbey (Hardcover)
I think The Haunting of Kildoran Abbey is a good book for anyone to read, because it's showing kids working together to help their people during a time of need.

I loved this book. For juevinile fiction it's tops. The story makes you hope. Makes you eager. Makes you wonder. If you love characters, you will love this story. ..'the witch, the wolfhound, the dead monks who haunt the abandonded abbey, and the Irish famine...' ...how can you resist?? :)

engaging for the young mind only,
This review is from: The Haunting of Kildoran Abbey (Hardcover)
in 1847,ireland,the irish folk are starving due to the famine. a group of
young adults band together to rob the rich of FOOD,all the while, the group of young people are hiding in a castle that may be or may not be "haunted". this story was ok i thought but, there is an historical error on page 155. the characters are talking about going to new york to start a new life and are making references to the poem on the statue of liberty..."give me your tired, your poor...". the statue of liberty was not constructed untill the year 1886! (39 years after this story takes place). i am not sure if the author intended this to "add" to the story-meaning that america is the place to go(and here is why) or it was an innocent error. |
