Work on other applications while simultaneously watching TV in a window from the 125-channel, cable-ready TV tuner. WinTV also displays video from a VCR, camcorder, or any other video source.
Add impact to your desktop publishing and Web design with WinTV and Hauppauge's exclusive SnapShot application. You can quickly capture and save video images. Capture 24-bit still images in TIFF, JPEG, and BMP file formats in color or black and white. Incorporate saved still images into desktop publishing and Web design.
You can also videoconference over the Internet. WinTV is a video digitizer and can be used with Internet videoconferencing applications like Microsoft's NetMeeting (included with Windows 98), CUSeeMe, and more. Using a camcorder or video camera, you can videoconference with your friends and family right on your PC.
Hauppauge's WinTV Capture application lets you create digital movies in the Microsoft AVI file format. Capture video clips from TV, VCR, or camcorder and incorporate them into your multimedia presentations.
WinTV is compatible with a number of third-party applications, including WinDVR, a digital recorder application from InterVideo; SnapStream, a streaming video application; and Viewtopia, a multibrowser from PointNine. WinTV can also be used with popular public domain software such as DScaler.

Good TV card,
This review is from: Hauppauge WinTV 125 Channel TV Tuner and Digital Digitizer (Model 404) (Personal Computers)
If you simply want to watch TV on your computer, this is a decent card. It was easy to install, comes with a remote, and has some nice features. It doesnt seem to affect my computer's performance while running, which is very nice. The video capture mode is a little disappointing, since the short videos I tried to record came out choppy and mainly unwatchable. The video files created by the capture were huge, although I assume you could shrink such a file using various divx encoders. In any event, I didnt buy the card for its capture capabilities, and if that is what you are looking for, I'd look somewhere else. If all you want is a TV tuner with remote, this is a good buy.

This product does not have any of the cons ... It is easy to use and win tv 2000 (the progrm that is) is one of the best tv tuner applications there is. This card is inexpensive and more versitile than any other card in its price range. Im not saing the quality is great when in tv mode or full screen it looks alittle cubated. But its the best you can do for the money to get an equivilant card or better you looking to spend two and a half or more times what this card costs. And if your chanels are blurry thats usually due to the cable input touching the computer case.

Some cons but really cool.,

First the cons: Full doesn't make the picture bigger just blackens around the image and keeps the size of the screen the same. Also on my computer it wouldn't let my modem work. The on-line help that I printed days before said tocheck with the ISP but I knew before hand they couldn't help me. What I ended up doing was unplugging the card and changin my modem's IRQ setting. That then enabled the card to be used. So I think that you will have to take a look at the IRQs and play with them (which windows says you shouldn't, but that is the easiest thing to do).But overall this is a really good card. Some of my channels come in blurry but that is due to my cable line, not the card. The remote control makes it conveninet to sit back in my chair and prop up my legs to watch tv. When I move I'm going to have the computer in another room so it will be nice to watch TV and play on the computer at the same time. Due to the Installation problems I give it 4 Stars.
