This review is from: Haute Couture: Tradesmen's Entrance (Hardcover)
I have many fashion design books but I usually prefer technical books to those of photographs. This book though which is mainly photographs is so brilliant I continually turn the pages and continue to be amazed. Each chapter has 2 or 3 pages of historical text about a tradesman involved in the French fashion industry such as lacemaker, embroiderer, supplier of feathers, fabric dyers, pleatmakers etc and then about 20 pages for each tradesman of the most brilliant and breathtaking close up photos of the warehouses, the tools, details of jewels, buttons, lace and so on. It is a wonderful tribute to the real but unseen fashion makers. This book was originally published in a limited edition of 1000 so grab it quick while it is still available! |
