This 6" x 6" book is a treasure trove of moulded tile designs manufactured in Cuba in the early to middle 20th century. Cuba was the second country (after Mexico) to adopt the revolutionary hydraulic tile production methods invented in the late 19th century. Multiple companies sprang up and many different styles of tiles were manufactured that had a distinct Cuban design focus that was more ornamental than the Barcelona tiles that originally inspired them. Because of Cuba's policy of preserving many of the old buildings, many of the tiles can be viewed in Cuba in the environments they were produced for.
The book includes both very high quality photos of individual tiles and tiles combined into overall patterns that could be used by interior designers, quilters, polymer clay artists and others. Both 72 dpi JPEG and 300 dpi TIFF files are included, so you will be able to work with them in either Photoshop/GIMP applications or Illustrator/Inkscape drawing applications. The images are quite substantial in size and are presented in their correct orientations, so no complicated correcting needs to be done to them. If larger images are needed they can be ordered from Pepin Press; license is granted for personal use and the company says its terms for commercial licenses are very reasonable. The Pepin Press books set a high standard of quality that that should influence the production of design books in the future
