Havana's soul through its architecture,
By A Customer
This review is from: Havana la Habana (Hardcover)
Excellent book on Havana's architecture from Colonial times to the present. It is a very well structured book with a camera eye that gets deeply into the soul of the city. This book takes us to a living tour of Havana's dwellings from "Palaces to Huts" showing through beautiful and insightful details the diversity of styles that characterizes the organized anarchy of this city. La Habana captures the ingenuity, creativity and diversity of the cuban mind in the instance of a building. It also shows how this creative mind has been shut down by the experiments on communism.

This review is from: Havana la Habana (Hardcover)
This book has good coverage of the scope and variety of architecture in Havana. Some other books provide larger format photos and more consistent qualty of photos - such as Robert Polidori's Havana. On the other hand this book has a good commentary, with a wide range of both the well preserved and less well preserved buildings and interiors, and a good overall presentation of Havana residents lifestyles and living conditions.
