This book is good, but not exactly what I was hoping for. It's more about Havanese information rather than instruction. I wanted a true manual on how to raise and own a Havanese.

I have to say that, as Barron's Pet Series goes, this is one of the best of the bunch. It is obvious to me that the author benefitted from reading Diane Klumb's book, The Havanese, as reading this one is like reading "The Havanese" lite. The health info has been seriously abbreviated but, what is there, is correct. The humor, charm and obvious personal involvement with these dogs is absent but at least the material is accurate,useful, and specific to the breed. Nice job, Nikki!

This book is certainly not an in-depth learn everything there is to know sort of book.
All things covered in this book is short and you won't get bogged down in too many facts.

I enjoyed this book a lot. More so for showing others what a Havanese IS! Most of my family members didn't know and showing them this book helps others quickly get what a Havanese is.

Before purchasing a Havanese I, for sure, recommend doing more research than just reading this book. I gave this book 4 stars because it is what I expected. I didn't expect it to go in-depth and cover everything there is to know about the Havanese. If you are expecting it to cover everything- don't buy.

I bought this book in anticipation of bringing a new puppy home. I liked it because there are few books written specifically about the Havanese breed. I found the section on grooming particularly useful, and of course, the photos throughout the book are charming. It was not nearly as good as others with respect to housebreaking and training. For that I liked "Little Dogs: Training your Pint-Sized Companion" and "Good Owners, Great Dogs". if you're only going to buy one book, this isn't it but it is a nice addition.

Good book, answered all the questions I had plus brought to light things I should know about this breed.

Being new to Havanese ownership (2 puppies) I found this book to be helpful and informative. I know I will be glad in the months to come that it will be there for reference. You fall in love with these dogs just looking at the pictures. I would recommend this to anyone who has a Havanese or is thinking of getting one.

Book was excellent. Information was to the point. Good informational book for Havanese owners.

As proud new parents of a Havanese this book is a must for your library.

I liked the book but as other reviewers have stated it is mostly, for me, a general guide on owning a dog/puppy, and some history on Havanese. There are a lot of wonderful and colorful photos of Havanese at various ages and activities which is nice but as a go to guide for Havanese owners this is average. I bought this to have something at the house to add to my collection of dog books and then downloaded, Havanese: A Comprehensive Guide to Owning and Caring for your dog by Zoila Portuondo Guerra on my Kindle which is, in my opinion, a lot better for a Havanese owner. Both books in a way say the same things but the Kindle book is a little more detailed. Over all the Havanese-Barron's Complete Pet Owners Manual is good for anyone who has a Havanese or anyone who has a dog. Some things in this book I found to be specific to the Havanese but mostly it reads like my other dog books on poodles, rottweilers, daschunds, yorkshire terriers, etc. Best thing for a hope to be Havanese owner is to find a reputable local Havanese breeder and talk to them then add this book to keep you focused. I attended a local dog show sanctioned by the AKC to meet Havanese breeders and get their opinions on the breed after I bought this book which helped me realize some things about the breed up close and see them in action. The book arrived on time, in new condition and I have no problems with what the book states only I feel that it is average in the information it gives.
