Shelley Ball-Dannenberg and her daughter Delaney live in Ohio with Delaney’s dad and brother. Shelley is a Certified Dyslexia Testing Specialist and the owner of Dyslexia Testing & Information Services, LLC. Her mission is to raise awareness about dyslexia. Delaney continues tutoring for her dyslexia. She is very successful in school, and she loves reading. Delaney enjoys riding horses, art, pottery, and spending time outside with her brother and her friends.

Disappointment,

I was really excited about this book. I think if I would have been able to see the first few pages, I would have know that I should not order it! I think the beginning words about her "brain being wired wrong" is inappropriate. I'm also not a huge fan of how the girl talks about how she thought she was dumb before she knew she was dyslexic. It just didn't educate the way that I would have chosen. I did not read it to my child for this reason.

My daughter is in her teens and has dyslexia. She received this book as a gift from a friend of mine, and it made her day! She has insight now into how dyslexia affected her early years, and this book "hit the nail on the head" of her experiences.

I have two Dyslexic children and this book is spot on for their symptoms and how they have felt. I liked it so much I bought a copy for my LBS/LD teacher. If your child is being taught using a multi sensory or Orton-Gillingham based system it speaks about that as well. Perfect!
