5.0 out of 5 stars The third time's the charm!
Very rarely does a band sound better than ever on their third album, but FFH has done just that with their new CD, Have I Ever Told You. Although both of their first two albums were great, their second (Found A Place) didn't really sound any different from their first (I Want To Be Like You). 3.0 out of 5 stars Have I Ever Told you my review for their last album
Since FFH pretty much clones their first and second album with this outting with the exception of a couple of songs, I will clone my review for their last album with a few exceptions:

I enjoy FFH. When the first album came out, I was extremely impressed. I have a 3 song rule in that I gotta instantly like 3 songs before I decide to buy it. The first album went above and...

Very rarely does a band sound better than ever on their third album, but FFH has done just that with their new CD, Have I Ever Told You. Although both of their first two albums were great, their second (Found A Place) didn't really sound any different from their first (I Want To Be Like You). This time, they took a few more risks and came out with an edgier, more produced sound. But don't worry, old-school fans will not be disappointed -- HIETY is filled with the same tight harmonies and praiseful lyrics as are the first two CD's. But they can expect to be pleasantly surprised throughout the CD. Some of the songs that stand out are "We Sing Alleluia", a powerful worship song backed up by a choir; "Millionaire", which has an acoustic folk sound; the moving ballad "Before It Was Said", which features a string orchestra; and the fun-filled "Astronauts", an energized rocker with a few touches of electronica. You won't find any filler on this CD; each song has something special. The lyrics are very uplifting and powerful, as usual. The bottom line: HIETY is definitely FFH's best CD yet, which is saying a lot considering how good the first two were. I highly recommend this one whether you are already a fan of FFH or have not yet discovered their music.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Christian Music CDs ever, from any band!, September 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Have I Ever Told You (Audio CD)
This is the first CD by FFH (Far From Home) that I have purchased. I am so glad I did! Every song on the CD is great, but my favorites are "Open Up the Sky" and "On My Cross." "On My Cross" actually caused me to cry tears of gratitude at the depth and scope of God's love. God will use the music here to challenge you, encourage you, and draw you to Him. If you are looking for great Christian music, buy it. You will not be dissapointed, especially if you are an FFH fan.

God loves you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another GREAT One!, August 21, 2001

This review is from: Have I Ever Told You (Audio CD)
I must admit I was anxiously anticipating this CD's release so I might be a little biased. However, after just a few times listening, I am already singing the choruses in my head. One of my favorite things about this group's sound is its strong use of acoustical guitar. This CD adds to that sound with piano and strings, but does not take away from that original sound I had come to enjoy. Their acoustical roots are strongly evidenced here, but enhanced by the new additions. I can't pick a favorite song yet as they are all good. "Watching Over Me" and "Open Up The Sky" are terrific, while the lyrics to "On My Cross" move my heart to worship as I am sure they were intended. This group crosses generational lines to provide a common denominator for parents and children of all ages. With this CD, my kids and I do not have to argue over what to listen to. I highly recommend this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winning Effort, November 7, 2001

Once again FFH (Far From Home) has hit paydirt with their third CD. The tight vocals and willingness to have fun is just one reason that this like the other FFH albums are just a wonderful introduction to the world of Adult Contempoary Christian Music. If anyone is looking to get into this genre of music as a fan, but is a little unsure what Adult Contemporary Christian Music is, this would be a wonderful introduction. The messages in the music are simple, Jesus Christ is the answer. This is not Sunday Praise and Worship, this is praise music that you can play while driving down the highway turned way up. Thanks FFH for keeping it simple and real.

I was eagerly awaiting the release of this newest release from FFH and I wasn't disappointed. This is FFH's third CD and they just keep getting better!

FFH's seems to transcend generational boundaries. I've heard from so many people that this is the group that the whole family can enjoy together - from Grandma down to little kids!

The order of songs listed above isn't correct - the first song is "Watching Over Me" and it is a GREAT opening track. The chorus is one that you'll be singing all day - it really sticks in your head:

"I'll be alright
Safe inside
Staying alive
as long as You are watching over me"

The second track is "Fly Away", which is both fun and very meaningful as it talks about the day "I'll hear the trumpet loud and clear and we'll fly away". The third song "We Sing Alleluia", is an incredible praise song -in a way it reminds me of Michael W Smith's "Agnus Dei".

So those are just the first 3 tracks - you really need to buy this album! If you don't have them already, order FFH's first two releases as well. You should also know that FFH has two songs on the superb worship album that was released a year ago "City on a Hill". You can read my review of that album by clicking on "See more about me".

By going to the FFH website (ffh.net), I found that they have a book called "Far From Home: Stories from the Road".

Please check out my other reviews of Christian music and books!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great Cd, February 8, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Have I Ever Told You (Audio CD)
This CD is amazing. On most CDs there is atleast 1 or two track I have to skip because they are songs I don't like, but not with this CD. Song number 8 "Millionaire" really has inspired me and a friend of mine while we were having problems with what to do for the rest of our lives. Number 3 is absolutely wonderful, it makes me want to raise my hands every time I hear it. All songs here are beautiful and inspiring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Revival for the Soul, December 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Have I Ever Told You (Audio CD)
I bought this CD for one reason and one reason only, the song Fly Away. When I put it in the CD player to listen to it, I soon found out that I had bought it for many more reasons. The last song on the CD, On My Cross, brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It really put me in my place. "He took my shame, my blame, on my cross." He didn't have to die on the cross, but he did. This CD speaks to my soul. It is almost like a personal revival for my soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best, July 30, 2002
This review is from: Have I Ever Told You (Audio CD)
This is one of the few CDs that I own that I enjoy listening to every song on it. Every song is quite meaningful and spiritual in its lyrics, and has excellent melody. Many of the lyrics really make you think. FFH keeps the Lord as their primary focus and you can really tell if you ever attend one of their concerts.

3.0 out of 5 stars Have I Ever Told you my review for their last album, March 1, 2002

The first album went above and beyond that when I liked every song on first listen. I can't say that on the third album. Don't get me wrong. This is a good album with some great praise & worship songs. Their concert was also excellent. But I guess my only issue is that it sounds like a clone of the first and second album. The beats and music on most of the songs are identical. Lyrically they have made some great stuff (I smiled on Astronaut). They do some experimentation on a couple of songs and they sound ok.

5.0 out of 5 stars Praise Worship that will Rock Your Soul, July 22, 2003

Once FFH started their mission on the road to reach as many people as possible with their sweet sounding powerful music. Their music so far has led thousands to salvation. FFH put their moving revival into overdrive with this album that has the best acoustic driven pop. Plus they've added keyboards. Every song rounds this album out well. It includes Lindell Cooley's classic song, the soaring 'Open Up the Sky.' "On my Cross' will bring tears to your eyes. 'Astronaut' with a touch of a little electronica and 'Millionaire' are the fun songs. "We Sing Alleluia' a classic transformed into a powerful praise-worship song with a full chorus. 'Before It was Said' is a beautiful ballad of a caring God. FFH just keeps getting better and this album proves it. I recommended this album and their 'Ready to Fly' album as starters if you're not familiar with FFH. They're not just your average Christian group.
