4.0 out of 5 stars This Years Electro Stormer!!!
Anyone looking for the next big thing in Electro needs to check out this album. I'd heard the name crculating around & finally saw a cheap copy to pick up. I'm glad that I did because the album is sure to turn heads. I'm sure this'll turn out to be the Digitalism/Justice of 2008, something that everyone should hear. 3.0 out of 5 stars solid
I think all in all its a really good album, foor a bunch of Canadians..haha. If your even remotely interested in this band then you will defintiely appreciate the content. Also, if you have the chance....se them live, they blew me away and stole the show in my opinion at a recent music festival.

4.0 out of 5 stars This Years Electro Stormer!!!, May 2, 2008
Anyone looking for the next big thing in Electro needs to check out this album. I'd heard the name crculating around & finally saw a cheap copy to pick up. I'm glad that I did because the album is sure to turn heads. I'm sure this'll turn out to be the Digitalism/Justice of 2008, something that everyone should hear. My main gripe with the album is it's length. With a running time of only 38 minutes & 28 seconds you're just getting into the song when it's ending. My personal favorites right now are tracks 1, 3, 4 & 5 ("Battle Royal", "Dawn Of The Dead", "Doomed Now" & "We Are Rock Stars"). There's a definate punk/funk influence through out the album as well so anyone who got into The Klaxons' "Myths Of The Near Future" album last year should feel right at home here as well. In the end if you enjoy the Electro or Punk Funk sounds, this one's for you. If you've ever gotten into "Daft Punk", "Boyz Noise", "Justice", "Klaxons" or "Digitalism" (& waaaaaay to many others to list here) you should find something you like here. Definately check out this album & above all else ...Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars No Idea What I Got Into, April 22, 2008

I really didn't want to like this band when I first heard their single "We Are Rockstars". I usually would never go for a band so reminiscent of a Daft Punk sounding pseudo-techno/dance band. Alas, from the moment "Battle Royale" starts up to the appropriately titled "Epic Last Song" ends this album is an amazing work of musicianship.

Every track is filled with something completely different and original that will never cease to amaze you. Some of the sound effects they use are really cool and even when they don't use them they sound amazing. My favourite song on the album would have to be "Dawn of the Dead".

Again, this album will most definitely not be for everyone. It's not like anything you'd hear on American radio, it's strange, bizarre, and absolutely wonderful! Five stars well earned!

4.0 out of 5 stars Derivative, but very very fun, July 18, 2008
If you didn't know better, "Does It Offend You, Yeah" would be incredibly impressive. As it stands, they're fundamentally derivative copying a range of what passes as "indie" these days. Oh yeah, and it's also insanely catchy and fun. I can forgive them their unoriginality because they do it so well. The perfect example is "With A Heavy Heart" - a tune that is so rocking it nearly makes your head explode. It starts with a bang, builds to a frenzy, and keeps things crazy.

A couple tracks sound a little like Justice, while a couple others borrow more than a little from M83. The thing is, there's a difference between reflecting the state of popular music as you see it, and borrowing to compensate for not really having a sound of your own. Since this is their first CD, I won't be too hard on "DIOYY". From this CD, I'm not yet convinced that they have a sound of their own. When they put out a second CD, then we'll see if there are any stylistic consistencies.

In the end, none of this matters all that much because the music is just so fun. If you like rock mixed with electro and a sort of indie vibe, you'll find this fun, even if it's not the most ground-breaking CD out there.

Originality - **1/2 (2.5 stars)
Fun factor - ***** (5 stars)
Overall - ***3/4 (3.75 stars)

5.0 out of 5 stars Krikey! This album rocks, February 17, 2010
I'm not going to go into some lengthy review of this album. I pretty much agree with everyone else's review here. I discovered these guys after perusing through tons of other stuff hoping for something different and unique and was GOOD... that distinguished itself from a lot of the other stuff out there that's drab or a knock off or sounds forced. This album is totally fresh, it friggin' rocks, it's interesting, it can be put on continuous play with no worries of getting tired of it. It leaves you wanting more. That being said, my only complaint is.. what's taking so long on the next album? Can't wait to see these guys live.

5.0 out of 5 stars There is Hope For Music Yet!, January 19, 2009
This album has singlehandedly given me hope for the future of music. This has got to be the most diverse album I have ever heard. It can not be categorized as any one specific type of music, because its all over the place. I don't think I should bother listing my favorite tracks, because I would probably just end up naming 8 of the 10. But, I will say that one song everyone appears to be overlooking is "Attack of the 60 ft Lesbian Octopus". Its definitely not for everyone, but it is a beautifully abstract piece of music. I don't think Ive looked forward to a follow up album this much in years. Bravo Does It Offend You, Yeah?. Bravo!

Electro-rock at it's finest. Does it Offend You has talent, and is not what you might assume another Klaxons type hype-rider. Every track is well thought out and enjoyable.
