5.0 out of 5 stars Belushi and Aykroyd, NEED I SAY MORE?
Being a huge fan of SNL and The Blues Brothers for almost 30years I picked up this album just to show support for my boys. WOW was I blown away. Unlike Aykroyd's previouse albums that are mostly covers this is almost all originals! 14 tracks of Good Old Louisianna Blues fused with Contemporary Rock. My Personal favorites on the Album are the title track "have Love...

1.0 out of 5 stars 3 words: Don't Be Silly
Don't waste your precious time on Earth listening to these guys recycling great old tunes.

Seek the originals, or at least, the definitive early versions.

To wit:

One listen to Have Love Will Travel by THE SONICS and you'll be muttering, BELUSHI WHO?

Being a huge fan of SNL and The Blues Brothers for almost 30years I picked up this album just to show support for my boys. WOW was I blown away. Unlike Aykroyd's previouse albums that are mostly covers this is almost all originals! 14 tracks of Good Old Louisianna Blues fused with Contemporary Rock. My Personal favorites on the Album are the title track "have Love Will Travel"(wich was performed on Acording to Jim)"Cadilac Man" (also performed on Acording to Jim) and "Time Won't Let Me" (performed on SNL featuring a duet by Jim and Danny) if your expecting to hear the blues brothers this isn't the album for you. But if you just want a taste of somethnig different, a new kind of Blues Then I definatly recomend this Album! These guys obviosly put there hearts in to it. Jim and Danny both take turns singing lead and Blowing the harmonicas and they even team up for a few duets on the album, and the band is made up mostly of Jim's other band "The Sacred hearts" If you can find there cd I recomend that also!!

4.0 out of 5 stars somewhat original, December 23, 2004
This review is from: Have Love Will Travel (Audio CD)
I've always got a kick out of the blues brothers and I would recommend this cd to both snl fans and lovers of classic r&b/blues & rock......Having read some of the other reviews, I would like to point out a fallacy. This is NOT mostly original. There are some original tunes but over half are cover versions. In fact, nine of the thirteen songs are covers. I listed them below with the original recording artists-
Have Love, Will Travel-Richard Berry (of Louie Loiue fame)
Dig Myself A Hole-Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup
Time Won't Let Me-The Outsiders
Polk Salad Annie-Tony Joe White
300 Pounds Of Joy-Howlin Wolf
All She Wants To Do Is Rock-Wynonie Harris
Greenbacks-Ray Charles
Swinging Party-Lowell Fulsom
Driving Wheel-Roosevelt Sykes
Aykroyd & Belushi never tried to take credit for songs performed as the Blues Brothers and I don't think they would do so now.

I have gone to two of their CD signings and I got to met Dan Aykroyd. Jim, I met at a According To Jim taping. Songs from this CD was played on ATJ. The first season was "Cadillac Man", next season was "Have Love Will Travel" and "Can't Get Out Of It," and final this season they did "300 Pounds of Joy" and "Time Won't Let Me." Since I have it I been playing it over and over. I am a big fan of both of them, and also I love the Blues Brothers. They also do a wonderful Blues Brothers show. Any fan should add this to their collection, I have and its great music. I have Jim's other CD called 36-22-36 and it's also a great one. Both CD's I recommend. Great Blues music.

4.0 out of 5 stars WAY more than you'd think, June 18, 2003

This review is from: Have Love Will Travel (Audio CD)
Let's face it: Dan Aykroyd LOVES the blues. The guy simply doesn't get enough credit for being a life-long supporter of the genre. His hosting of the House of Blues Radio Hour remains the most important blues radio show of the past 20 years. This time out, Dan smartly leaves the "Blues Brothers" name behind, and joins up with old friend Jim Belushi (and a great big band featuring former Bonnie Raitt guitarist Johnny Lee Schell). There are some really fine performances here--Belushi has obviously taken some vocal lessons after his horrific performance on the "Live from the House of Blues" Blues Brothers CD recorded in Chicago a few years back. It's also the best recorded and mixed independent blues CD I've purchased in a long time. The sound is absolutely pristine. You can tell the stars and the band are having BIG FUN during the making of this effort, and it's contagious to the listener. Cheap at twice the price; buy anything with the name Aykroyd on it. He's a dyed in the wool bluesman.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Nicest guy on TV and in real life!, September 10, 2003
By A Customer

Saw Jim Belushi and the Sacred Hearts at the ABC Preview Weekend in Anaheim recently. That's actually the first time I've heard him sing. I've been a fan of his acting for quite a while now. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed his performance. It was very cool and I like the fact that he gets down there and interacts with the audience! After the show, he stayed for the people who were waiting for autographs and photos. He didn't leave anyone out. Most celebrities can't wait to get away! (THANK YOU, JIM! It means a lot to the fans.) His music got stuck in my head the entire night and the next day so I had to go and buy the CD. It ROCKS!!

It is fun american music sung by two guys who love to have fun with it. The band is tight and it is a great party CD.

I saw these guys last night in Saint Paul (MN) at an outdoor concert... Rode in on Harley's, escorted by the Chief of Police... Once they got on stage, they really knew how to captivate the crowd. The music is excellent, full of energy! I definately recommend this album!

This review is from: Have Love Will Travel (Audio CD)
For 20+ years, Dan Aykroyd (an avid blues fan) has been performing the music he loved under the persona of Elwood Blues, one half of the now legendary "Blues Brothers" mystique. Thanks to the movies, it's been hard for Aykroyd to shed those glasses and hat and simply perform the music he loves AS Dan Aykroyd.

This album finally gives him the chance to perform as himself. Although teamed with one-time "Blues Brothers" singing mate, Jim Belushi (filling the shoes of Aykroyd's late partner, John Belushi), don't expect this to be another blues tribute album. For the first time, these two men (who have definitely blossomed as singers in their own right) have recorded a straight-forward studio album of modern blues songs, the majority of which are originals.

There is no gimmick on this album, simply two men singing, backed by a talented band (none of which were involved in the original Blues Brothers Band, by the way). As stated in other reviews, this is NOT a Blues Brothers recording. It IS a great blues project, however.
