Marshall Turner's life couldn't be better. He has a loving wife and a wonderful daughter. But all of that changes when a horrible tragedy tears his marriage apart. Fast forward years later, Marshall eventually heals and moves on from this tragedy and finds a new love. But just as he opens his heart to love again, Marshall gets a chance to get revenge against the man that caused his life so much pain. Luther is man who had the odds stacked against him very early in life. He had to grow up with his drug-addicted mother who didn't care about him. Luther does whatever he can to survive. But will Luther's poor choices come back to haunt him? Carmen has had to raise her younger sister Nikki by herself after the death of her parents. Carmen has made a lot of sacrifices to provide a better life for herself and her sister. But she sees an opportunity for happiness when she finally has a chance meeting with a man that's a little rough around the edges. Will he fill the void that Carmen has in her life?

Have Mercy is Earl Sewell's best novel to date. What really made this story stand out was the character and story development. When you start reading this book, you'll wonder how all of these characters' stories relate to each other. Sewell connected three different storylines so effortlessly that it doesn't interrupt the flow of the story. Marshall and Carmen are lovable characters that you wouldn't mind seeing in another book. Luther is a character that you can sympathize with and hate at the same time. There are some unexpected revelations in this novel that will definitely keep you turning the pages until the very end. You will find yourself wondering what you would do in Marshall's situation. Strong characters, emotional drama, and a good dose of suspense makes Have Mercy one of the best books of the year. With Have Mercy, Earl Sewell proves that the art of telling a good story still exists.

You will be forced to read this book quickly because the suspense is too much to take! Have Mercy is a story in part that shows just when you think you have gotten away with a wrong doing it comes back to show you that you thought very wrong. Luther has had a rough life mainly due to his mother's drug addiction. A beautiful woman falls for him and helps him get his life together. Marshall and his wife, Stacy, have a daughter who is killed by a hit and run driver (Luther is the driver). This tears their marriage apart due to Marshall's overwhelming grief and his determination to find his daughter's killer. While they are going through hell, Luther thinks he can go on with life as usual. Not so fast Luther.........not so fast.

This was a great book,my book club loved it, we had wild discussion around. We had to give him a little literary license with some parts but all in all very entertaining and enough for everyone. All of us could relate to at least one character, there was just enough color just enough racy to keep you glued to the plot. All of us loved how all the characters and their lives kriss krossed in the end. I loved Sewell's style of writing, the book flowed, and it was short leaving you feeling like you wanted to explore other things he's written. Leana Horne's quote in the beginning of the book set the tone for some great reading, and gave me a tidbit of knowledge I'll carry forever.

what a read. My co-worker gave the book to me as a gift, and what a gift!! I couldn't put the book down, I was actually late for work because I had to read the last five pages (don't tell my supervisor). I always perdict certain things that will happen in a story, with Have Mercy...NOT!!!! I didn't see that coming, is all that I could say while reading the story. That dang Luther was a journey (worst that a trip). I actually experienced a bunch of different emotions while reading the book, I smiled, laughed, shoke my head and even teared up at the end when Quentin and Carmen got on their knees. All I can say is BRAVO!!!!

I have to Agree with the rest of the Customers This is a damn good book, Earl Sewell did his thing on this one, I can't wait to get Cougars.

This book was very good kept you in suspense. When you first start reading you trying to figure out how they are all connected. Once you finished you understood how and the ending was amazing. Howvere, I need a part 2 to this book. I got a chance to meet the author and he was very pleasant. I like how he took over hosting the book club meeting. The book club that I am in is called the "All Booked Up Book Club".

The twists and turns with so much pain kept me reading to see where the author was going to take me next. I will be telling my read friends about Have Mercy a must read. I loved this book. Mercy is one of my best reads this year. I just finished and all I could say WOW. I would like to see this book made into a movie.

Have Mercy is the best book Earl has written so far, and that is saying a lot because it must have been hard to outdo himself! He had so many plot twists and turns I didn't see coming. He created characters that were a great mix of not all good, and not all bad.I found myself rooting for these characters to find happiness.
I read the book in 2 days because I couldn't put it down. The characters lives are intertwined in ways that are exciting and emotionally gripping as it all comes to light. I laughed out loud at some of the dialogue.If you want to be entertained by a great story with beleivable characters, then pick up a copy of Have Mercy!

Law'd Have Mercy! I won't give out the details, because you must read it for yourself. There is no other way to give it the justice that it deserves. I will say this, when I finished reading this book, all I could say at that time was have mercy!!!! Once again Earl has pulled you into his world/life of the characters that are portrayed in this book. He has taken his writing to another level as you, the reader get's caught up in the relationship situations and a whole lot of drama. I couldn't put it down! I laughed,I cried and was so in to this book that I talked out loud to it!!!! Oh the tangled webs we weave. The ending blew me away. When the characters connected at the end all I could say was "Have Mercy". You must read this book! Book clubs this is definitely a winner! Thanks Earl for sharing your story and please keep them coming!!!!!!

Yes, Earl has done it again, This book was very good, I enjoyed it soooooooo! finished in two days.
I just wished that Marshall and Stacy would have somehow re-established a friendship after they stopped grieving, after all they were married for a number of years. Luther had a hard life, and because of it he made a lot of wrong choices in his life, but meeting Carmen Changed his circumstances and saved his life in the end. Glad that Marshall and Carmen found one another......but I think the story can continue....Hint, Hint.
