I WAS JUST LOOKING FOR ONE SONG (DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT) AND FOUND THIS CD. IT'S VERY GOOD AND ALOT OF THE SONG REALLY TAKE ME BACK TO MY HIGH SCHOOL TIMES. VERY GOOD VARIETY. I WAS SO GLAD I FOUND IT. THE QUALITY IS VERY GOOD. I'D HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CD. THANKS FOR HAVING IT.

Cheesy, but fun,

A compilation of night-themed songs from the 70's. Some of the songs are a stretch, both as to theme (Ian Hunter's "Ships", of course, doesn't use "night" in its title, but does in its refrain) and as to hit status (I'd never heard Kiki Dee's "Night Hours" before purchasing this disk, and hadn't missed much). But the musical night does end with "The Morning After".Most of the songs are winners. Well, maybe not winners, but they do bring back bittersweet memories of listening to the radio. In some ways, a soundtrack of my youth. I always have a guilty smile when inserting this disk into my player.

This CD is creatively made up of songs to play as a prelude to 70's, pre-AIDS, casual sex. (Track 2, Eddie Rabbit's I Love A Rainy Night, is perhaps a little too innocent for this album.) Songs I really like such as "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" and "Midnight at the Oasis" are mixed in with other seduction songs like "Let Me Love You Tonight" and "Lead Me On." All this irresponsibility comes crashing to a halt with "The Morning After" by Maureen McGovern. Way to ruin the mood, Maureen. Perhaps, Rhino Records is re-creating history by telling the 70's groovers they're going to have to wake up and face the reality of the 80's. I didn't recognize a lot of the songs (I was a little kid in the 70's), but besides the aforementioned tracks, I also was familiar with "Dancing In The Moonlight" by King Harvest. All in all, a decent collection.

This CD is fantastic. I bought this CD for the song, "Dancing in the Moonlight," but was pleasantly surprised by the other songs included. It's one good song after the next! It's so nice to have a variety CD in which you love most of the songs. If you enjoy the mellow songs of the 70's then purchase this CD. You really won't be disappointed!

On my never ending quest for the perfect complilation album, this one rates about a 3. It had some really good songs - like "Dancing In The Moonlight" - King Harvest and "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight" - England Dan/John Ford Coley but overall the other songs were just ok. Unless you really want these songs, I'd look for another 70's album with some more classics and less obscure songs.
