Book Description

Steven dropped to his knees next to the paramedic. "Jenna." Her eyes opened and in them he saw shock and tears and guilt. "I'm so sorry, Steven. I should have listened to you." Steven noticed the smears of blood on her worn Duke T-shirt. "Any other wounds?" he asked the paramedic.Only her throat. the blood on her shirt appears to be her own." "We found bloody handprints on the carpet where she crawled from the bedroom," said Uniform Two.Steven's gut seethed as he pictured her scared and hurt and crawling through her own house like a wounded animal. For that alone, whoever did this to her would pay...

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Offering heart-racing thrills, both in the bedroom and the forensics lab, this second romantic intrigue from Rose (Don't Tell) showcases her growing talent. Rose has created complex, realistic characters in high school teacher Jenna Marshall and Special Agent Steven Thatcher, whose eldest son, Brad, is in Jenna's class. Though Steven, a widower, is in the midst of a search for a serial killer who targets cheerleaders in their small North Carolina town, he takes time to visit Jenna when she calls to tell him that Brad, who used to be a high achiever, is flunking out of chemistry. When they meet, their own chemistry takes over and they find themselves falling in love, despite their troubled romantic pasts and the fact that Jenna may be next on the killer's list. Rose populates her novel with vivid characters - like Steven's seven-year-old son Nicky, who was a character in Rose's previous novel - and stokes the tension to a fever pitch, throwing in shocking twists each time the story threatens to settle into predictability. Though some of Steven and Jenna's lovers' quarrels deteriorate into melodrama, readers will hardly notice as they rush to the novel's thrilling conclusion.

Review

"The romance in Have You Seen Her? is good but the suspense is absolutely astounding. The red herring Ms. Rose uses kept me glued to the pages as the tension builds to the surprising conclusion."

5.0 out of 5 stars Hair raising suspense May 31, 2004
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
Well, I found out what Romantic Suspense is by reading this book. It is a mix of sizzling romance with mystery/suspense. I read a variety of things, but have never read a book quite like this one.
Special Agent Steven Thatcher is the lead investigator on a series of serial killings in his small town - the killer targets young, innocent teenage girls. He meets his teenage son's teacher, Jenna Marshall who is concerned about his son's falling grades. They feel an immediate attraction for one another, but due to losses and disappointments in their previous relationships, they resist each other's affections.
After the initial chapters, which included sizzling descriptions about how the main characters felt about each other, I almost put this book down. I was afraid the book would be more romance and very little suspense. I was wrong. I am so glad I didn't give up on this one.
Though romance is at the core of this story, the suspense is so hair raising and realistic that I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish reading this book. As with any good mystery/suspense, this writer managed to throw out enough clues to lead you along the path of who the killer was yet still hit you with a big surprise you at the end - the killer is not the person you think he is.
This was a highly entertaining read, I highly recommend it. You may just stay up past your bedtime reading it too.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For Suspense/Romance Readers!!! March 19, 2004
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Ms. Rose has now become one of the authors that I will buy simply because her name appears on the cover. This is the second book of hers that I've read and she is an excellent romantic suspense author. Ms. Rose has managed to deliver an equal amount of suspense and romance without cheating either concept and at the same time keeping you glued to the pages.
We met Special Agent Steven Thatcher in Ms. Rose's novel "Don't Tell." In this story Steven is investigating a horrific serial murder at the same time trying to balance being a father. Of course nothing is so easy and his oldest son as been acting out and not doing well in school. Enter Jenna Marshall, Brad's science teacher. She is concerned that Brad is not perfoming as he should and makes an appointment to meet with Steven. From the minute that crash into each other literally their lives are about to be tangled together and nothing will be the same. Now not only does Steven have to worry about a serial killer that keeps getting more evil each time he kills, it looks like this killer might just have Jenna in his sights. Can he protect the one woman that he has begun to care about and still catch a killer before he kills again?
This is truly an edge of your seat read. Plenty of twists and turns keep you guess who the killer is until the end of the book, and the chemistry between the two main characters will amaze you. Secondary character such as Steven's son's and aunt, as well as Jenna's family are only assests to this good read!!! Add "Have You Seen Her?" to your must read list now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner February 23, 2004
By Judy
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Have you seen her? by Karen Rose is a sensational follow-up to her first book Don't Tell.
Special Agent Steven Thatcher is trying to get his family back on track. His youngest son hasn't been the same since he was kidnapped six months ago, his oldest has literally changed overnight. So far his middle child is fairing okay. Even without his high profile job being a widower raising three sons is a challenge. Now a serial killer has come to his small town, pulling him even further away from his family when they need him the most.
High school teacher Jenna Marshall is alarmed in the change in her model student Brad Thatcher. She arranges a meeting with his dad to try to help Brad but she wasn't prepared to be so attracted to the man. Jenna finds herself drawn more and more into Stevens's family. And unknown to her the killer is drawn to her.
This book is a well-written romantic suspense novel. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. The romance between Steven and Jenna will tug at your heard and you will find yourself racing along with them to find a future together.
I am really glad I found this author. Can't wait to read the next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't let a slow start keep you from sticking with it August 15, 2005
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Readers first met Steven Thatcher when he was hunting down a murderous wife beating cop in "Don't Tell." Author Karen Rose's latest is an excellent follow up full of suspense and tension, and guaranteed to keep you turning the pages until the very end.

High school chemistry teacher Jenna Marshall has noticed that over the last month, one of her most promising students, Brad Thatcher, has been slowly slipping until he finally receives an F on his latest chemistry test. She sets up an appointment with his father, a widower, and sparks ignite between the two. When Jenna flunks a football player, strange accidents and vandalism befall her, and Steve takes it upon himself to protect her. When it appears that the serial killer Steven is investigating is targeting Jenna, Steven pulls out all stops to capture him with the aid of a Seattle detective still nursing wounds that the accused killer got off on a technicality on his watch.

The story starts slow, with a lot of narrative - don't let that stop you from reading this suspenseful and compelling novel.
