Book Description

September 20, 2011 9 and up The Secret Series (Book 5)770L (What's this?)
I always feared this day would come. A secret is meant to stay secret, after all. And now we've come to this: the fifth and final (I swear!) book in my saga of secrets.

A class trip to the local natural history museum turns dangerous, or perhaps deadly--and I don't mean in the bored-to-death way--when Cass accidentally breaks a finger off a priceless mummy. Forced to atone for this "crime" of vandalism, Cass and her friends Max-Ernest and Yo-Yoji go to work for the mummy exhibit's curator, only to be blamed when tragedy strikes. To clear their names--and, they hope, to discover the Secret--the trio must travel deep into a land of majestic pyramids, dusty tombs, mysterious hieroglyphs, and the walking dead. Egypt? Or somewhere much stranger . . .

In the midst of it all, the Secret still lurks. You're out there, reading and talking about it, and now my life--and chocolate supply--is in the greatest danger yet. So please, with a cherry on top, I'm begging you: you have to stop this!

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Cass, Max-Ernest, and Yo-Yoji are on yet another search for “the Secret.” In this fifth and final (maybe not!) book in the Secret series, Cass accidentally breaks a finger off a mummy in a natural-history-museum exhibit. The trio’s adventures begin when the mummy goes missing and they must find it to clear themselves before eighth-grade graduation. Bosch interjects “warnings” to readers and gives footnote explanations of starred words. Ford’s illustrations introduce each chapter and aptly set the mood. Readers who followed the children in previous escapades know what to expect: quirky humor, light suspense, and magic. No disappointments here. Grades 4-7. --J. B. Petty

More About the Author

Pseudonymous Bosch is the anonymous pseudonymous author of the Secret Series. Not much is known about him other than that he has a passionate love of chocolate and cheese and an equally passionate hatred of mayonnaise. Rumors of Boschian sightings are just as frequent and about as reliable as reports of alien abductions. If you ever meet anyone claiming to be Pseudonymous himself he is almost certainly an impostor. The real Pseudonymous is said currently to be hiding in a cave in a remote jungle (although there are contrary reports that he is somewhere in Greenland). You may contact him through his website www.pseudonymousbosch.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book of the series October 13, 2011
Format:Hardcover
I don't have much to say cause I don't want to spoil it for you. FINALLY, in this book he "reveals" the secret and HIS IDENTITY in this book. If you've read the previous books... you know what to expect from this FINAL book... things that will make you laugh, cry, dance, and maybe scared? Anyways, the book itself is fun and "puzzleing" you'll want to find out what happens next and the author stops you and tell you a little side story to make you smile (laugh possibly?). If you haven't read his previous books... WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME? Go buy his previous books and come back to read my review to see if you want to read this last book or not -.-...
ANYWAYS... Great book :')

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mystery! The Adventure! The Secret! October 7, 2011
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
As with the previous four books in the Secret Series, You Have to Stop This (love the titles from this series!), expertly weaves mystery and humor, good and evil, and sense and madness.

Mystery and Humor: Incorporating unsolved mysteries threads from the previous books in the series - Ms. Mauvais and Dr. L's conniving plans, PB's true identity, and ... The SECRET - along with new mysteries - a missing finger and a walking mummy - this final book produces a new question for each old question answered. But don't worry! All that is important is revealed, in some way or another, by the end of the tale. And, of course, humor is another big element in this story. Complete with poor mummy puns, chocolate lovers, and an application to join the Terces Society, You Have to Stop This provides comic relief coupled with a serving of crime-solving.

Good and evil: Cass, Max-Ernest, and Yo-Yoji all make reappearances in this final tales. Their roles? The heroes, of course! All three heroes go through satisfying character developments in this book, creating the ultimate alliance to beat the well-characterized villains and obstacles surrounding The Secret.

Sense and Madness: PB deftly creates stories in which the mystery makes sense, yet you're constantly wondering what happens next. Full of unexpected plot twists that not only deepen the characters' troubles, but also move the plot forward in a timely manner, You Have to Stop This is the perfect story for the imaginative.

Decorated with Gilbert Ford's whimsical illustrations, You Have to Stop This is the ultimate book for anyone looking for a fun, smart, and suspenseful read.

The "secret" series comes to an end with an unexpectedly strong conclusion, IMHO every bit as good as the first one The Name of this Book Is Secret (The Secret Series). Questions of the meaning of life, friendship, and growing up intermingle in a very interesting book which i found very difficult to put down. Is the ultimate secret the final answer or just another question? Is this the end or just another beginning?

Well done, PB!
