Very Good Collection....but.......,
By
This review is from: Have We Got a Show for You (Audio CD)
.....there are a few concerns that make it not get a full five stars. First, why is the Relient K version of "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" included? Not that their version is bad, but there are already too many songs from the "Jonah" movie and the original or the "redux" version would have been a better choice for a "best of" collection. Second, now I love "Endangered Love," but it was actually voted LAST in the Ultimate Silly Songs Countdown. It's inclusion over "Love My Lips" or "The Song of the Cebu" is puzzling. Also, I wish more songs from the past episodes were included - "Madame Blueberry" has three where "Esther," "Josh," and "Lyle" has NONE! But, where this collection really shines is with two upcoming songs. "Bellybutton" from "The Ballad of Little Joe" is the funniest silly song since "His Cheeseburger." I had it on repeat after I first heard it! It is that good. Also, "Hope's Song" from "An Easter Carol" by Rebecca St. James is wonderfully sung. Overall, this is a good collection - can't wait to see what the next 10 years have in store - KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK BIG IDEA!!

Almost the Veggie Best from Big Idea,
By Mark Baker (Santa Clarita, CA United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

To celebrate ten years making videos, Big Idea has released this CD. It chronicles their musical journey, starting with an all new recording of the "VeggieTales Theme Song" hitting several of their videos and CD releases right up through Jonah. They even include a sneak peak at songs from a couple of upcoming video releases.First the good. As any VeggieTales fan knows, some of the best parts of the videos are the songs. They manage to make a serious lesson fun. I still love "God is Bigger." "I Can Be Your Friend" is another song that fits this category. And you can't leave out the silly songs, best represented here by "The Hairbrush Song" and "His Cheeseburger." Six of the tracks are from the Jonah soundtrack, and they include the best, including Relient K's version of "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything," the Newsboys "In the Belly of the Whale," and the "Credits Song." A special word about the two new songs. "Bellybutton" is one of the best silly songs they've done in a long time. Sounds to me like they are bringing "Love Songs with Mr. Lunt" back. Can't wait to see the video for it. "Hope's Song," sung by Rebecca St. James, is a beautiful song tying Christmas and Easter together. Can't wait for that video either. So, what's the bad? The song selection is sometimes puzzling. Three of the tracks are from Madame Blueberry. "Endangered Love" makes this collection instead of "I Love My Lips" or one of the other, better, silly songs. Furthermore, 4 of the tracks are from their recent music CD releases. While a couple showed up on the recent video released, why did they earn a place on this CD? Especially the non-original songs like "Modern Major General" and "Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho." Of course, having said that, I must admit that I love "My Day" and am very glad to have it on this disc. Overall, this is a fun CD celebrating ten years entertaining the kid in everyone. While a few poor choices make it less then perfect, it's still a great collection for fans of the hardest working vegetables currently in show business.

I got hooked on vegitales when I picked up a video for my nephew a few years ago. I dont have kids either so I did not buy this CD for them. THis is a terrific compilation. Its a great CD to destress with after a long day at work. THe only song I did not really like was "The Credits Song". My favorites are of course "his cheeseburger", "in the belly of a whale", and especially "Hope's song". Overall, I love the messages these songs give to kids and even to us adults. Where was "God is bigger" when we were kids? So if you are considering a terrific CD for a child close to you, this is the one to get.

I'd bought this CD along with several others for my daughter to listen to on car trips, when she was about two years old. There are only two of them that she still enjoys seven years later, and this is one of them. Believe it or not, after seven years, even I still love this one!
The songs are really funny, or at least they fit my sense of humor. Lines like "why do you need a hairbrush, you don't have any hair" (said to a tomato!), "I'm swimming with fishes here (in the belly of a whale)/I'm highly nutritious here (in the belly of a whale)," "if you need an air compresser to blow fruit flies off your dresser," and "you are his cheeseburger, his tasty cheeseburger/he'll wait for you-oo-oo!" make me smile every time I hear them. The music itself is catchy, too...don't be surprised if you find yourself days later humming about Barbara Manatee. The music does have a clearly Christian slant, with several songs that have lines about praying and God (e.g. "God is bigger than the boogie man, he's bigger than Godzilla or the monsters on TV").

This is a great compilation of VeggieTales songs. At the time this was the only place to get the Bellybutton song. It's a great sample of all the different types of CDs VeggieTales puts out.
My own complaint (for 4 of 5 stars) is that it won't play on my mac! It immediately ejects it. All other VeggieTales CDs play on computers. It won't play on my parents' PC either. kinda sad. no iPod for these songs...

A Great Mix!,

This is a great CD! If you have trouble deciding which Veggietales CD to bring along with you for a trip, this is for you! It has 25 songs from a bunch of different shows and sing-along CD's.
My favorites are Modern Major General (I'm a Gilbert and Sullivan fan), Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho, and all the songs from Jonah; A Veggietales Movie. The only thing is, if you know the actually Modern Major General song, there is one small mistake. This CD says, "I know the kings of England and I quote the facts historical," but actually, it goes, "And I quote the fights historical." It doesn't have all the verses from the original song, either. Also, there's a song from 3-2-1 penguins. This is a terrific mix of all different Veggietales songs, and sometimes I'll listen to it for months without listening to another CD!

My 2 yr old son has almost every Veggie CD out there and this one is absolutely the best for him! (I personally like Veggie Rocks the best.) He sits in the backseat and sings every word to every song! His favorite song is "Endangered Love", which he raises his voice to sing Barbara Manatee's part. Ha Ha! This is a must have for every Veggie lover!

My wife and I got this for our daughter, Riley Ann! Needless to say, all 3 of us love it! I'd probably say that my wife's favorite song is probably "The Hairbrush Song", my personal favorite is "My Day", but Riley's favorite is for certain "Bushel And A Peck"! I'm just surprised that a lot of people only rate this 4 stars. You only live once, and sometimes you don't get second chances to give God the glory for what He's done. Jesus said, "Let the little children come unto me." Believe it or not, on a personal note, we all listen to this song before we go to church on Sunday morning. You might find it hard to believe, but stuff like this WILL pump you up for worship! I just wished we would've gotten this before we had a baby. Awesome stuff, and some great bonus stuff on here to boot! Well worth it, especially for our baby girl. I love you, Riley!

This album is halarious. Although I may be to old for it, it is the cutest most funny kids show ever. I give it a two thumbs up. Vegetales teaches kids values, like sharing, and forgiving. The kids I babysit go absolutely crazy when I pop in Veggie Tales Movies. They especially love the sing alongs. This CD is an assortment of some of their best songs. I've loved Veggie Tales since I was a little kid!
