Well, I found out what Romantic Suspense is by reading this book. It is a mix of sizzling romance with mystery/suspense. I read a variety of things, but have never read a book quite like this one.

Special Agent Steven Thatcher is the lead investigator on a series of serial killings in his small town - the killer targets young, innocent teenage girls. He meets his teenage son's teacher, Jenna Marshall who is concerned about his son's falling grades. They feel an immediate attraction for one another, but due to losses and disappointments in their previous relationships, they resist each other's affections.

After the initial chapters, which included sizzling descriptions about how the main characters felt about each other, I almost put this book down. I was afraid the book would be more romance and very little suspense. I was wrong. I am so glad I didn't give up on this one.

Though romance is at the core of this story, the suspense is so hair raising and realistic that I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish reading this book. As with any good mystery/suspense, this writer managed to throw out enough clues to lead you along the path of who the killer was yet still hit you with a big surprise you at the end - the killer is not the person you think he is.

This was a highly entertaining read, I highly recommend it. You may just stay up past your bedtime reading it too.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For Suspense/Romance Readers!!!, March 19, 2004
Ms. Rose has now become one of the authors that I will buy simply because her name appears on the cover. This is the second book of hers that I've read and she is an excellent romantic suspense author. Ms. Rose has managed to deliver an equal amount of suspense and romance without cheating either concept and at the same time keeping you glued to the pages.

We met Special Agent Steven Thatcher in Ms. Rose's novel "Don't Tell." In this story Steven is investigating a horrific serial murder at the same time trying to balance being a father. Of course nothing is so easy and his oldest son as been acting out and not doing well in school. Enter Jenna Marshall, Brad's science teacher. She is concerned that Brad is not perfoming as he should and makes an appointment to meet with Steven. From the minute that crash into each other literally their lives are about to be tangled together and nothing will be the same. Now not only does Steven have to worry about a serial killer that keeps getting more evil each time he kills, it looks like this killer might just have Jenna in his sights. Can he protect the one woman that he has begun to care about and still catch a killer before he kills again?

This is truly an edge of your seat read. Plenty of twists and turns keep you guess who the killer is until the end of the book, and the chemistry between the two main characters will amaze you. Secondary character such as Steven's son's and aunt, as well as Jenna's family are only assests to this good read!!! Add "Have You Seen Her?" to your must read list now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner, February 23, 2004

Judy "book reader" (Cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
Have you seen her? by Karen Rose is a sensational follow-up to her first book Don't Tell.

Special Agent Steven Thatcher is trying to get his family back on track. His youngest son hasn't been the same since he was kidnapped six months ago, his oldest has literally changed overnight. So far his middle child is fairing okay. Even without his high profile job being a widower raising three sons is a challenge. Now a serial killer has come to his small town, pulling him even further away from his family when they need him the most.

High school teacher Jenna Marshall is alarmed in the change in her model student Brad Thatcher. She arranges a meeting with his dad to try to help Brad but she wasn't prepared to be so attracted to the man. Jenna finds herself drawn more and more into Stevens's family. And unknown to her the killer is drawn to her.

This book is a well-written romantic suspense novel. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. The romance between Steven and Jenna will tug at your heard and you will find yourself racing along with them to find a future together.

I am really glad I found this author. Can't wait to read the next book.

Readers first met Steven Thatcher when he was hunting down a murderous wife beating cop in "Don't Tell." Author Karen Rose's latest is an excellent follow up full of suspense and tension, and guaranteed to keep you turning the pages until the very end.

High school chemistry teacher Dr. Jenna Marshall has noticed that over the last month, one of her most promising students, Brad Thatcher, has been slowly slipping until he finally receives an F on his latest chemistry test. She sets up an appointment with his father. After literally running into him (and calling him an incompetent imbecile before knowing who he is), sparks immediately fly between the two.

Thatcher is a widower, still nursing wounds from his wife leaving him on that fateful day with her lover. He has kept it a secret, and has stayed away from romantic entanglements for four long years. He is investigating a probably serial killer in their small North Carolina berg.

When Jenna flunks one of the stars of the football team, and strange accidents and vandalism befalls her, Steve takes it upon himself to protect her. Everyone around him is trying to get them together. Jenna is afraid to fall in love with Steven, as it taints the love she had for her former fiancé who succumbed to cancer a few years earlier.

When it appears that the serial killer is targeting Jenna, Steven pulls out all stops to capture him with the aid of a Seattle detective still nursing wounds that the accused killer got off on a technicality on his watch.

The story starts slow, with a lot of narrative - don't let that stop you from reading this suspenseful and compelling novel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Storyline, Bad Story, June 4, 2008
While I really enjoyed the storyline of this book and thought it was well-written, I can't give it more than three stars.

Steven was unbearable with his jealousy and it really turned me off from his character. Jenna was too perfect, but she was more tolerable than Steven. The murderer's identity also couldn't have been more obvious.

But, there's no way I can give anymore stars to a book that features so much violence against animals. If one more dog had been stabbed, I would've been done with this author forever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not her best by far..., April 10, 2008

I had read all of Karen Rose's books before I found this one. I was very disappointed in it. The hero made me want to smack him! That, more than any other glaring problems in this book, is the reason it gets 2 stars. I normally don't give reviews--an author went through some serious time to get this book written--but I had to share my opinion on this one. All the other books by Karen Rose have been spectacular---maybe she was having an off-time with this book. Whatever the reason--it only gets 2 stars from me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, sexy, vulnerable hero. Heroine was likeable also., January 6, 2007

Good, exciting book. Great suspense, great sex. I'm pretty picky about writing style, and I like Karen Rose. Intelligent, witty, semi-unpredictable. . . what more can you ask for in a suspense, thriller, chick book? (chick book yes, but my husband liked it, too). After I read this book, which I purchased after I read the other Amazon reviewers' critiques, I went out and bought all of her other books. And I have to say, I'd highly recommend them also. Actually, they were so good that I spent most of my kids' winter break reading them instead of spending quality time with my children. Now I need peruse the Amazon "self-help" book department and find one on how to deal with guilt.

I don't think I've ever read a book so fast in my life. I've never said this about a book before but I literally "couldn't put it down"; it was THAT good! The characters are so believable and I was able to relate to the main female character so much it was scary. My first exposure to Karen Rose was "Don't Tell" and I enjoyed that book so much I decided to get "Have You Seen Her?"; I liked it even better! Now I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting, Chilling, and A Good Romance, April 18, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this book because I liked "Don't Tell" so much. Ms.Rose uses the same sense of immediacy in this book as in the other. The story was very well plotted and I had no idea who the killer was until the end...Well I thought I knew. But she totally had me fooled. If you enjoy a good suspenseful mystery with a great love story, like I do, You will not be able to put it down. Better than a movie at half the price.

I liked "Don't Tell" which is the prequel to this book and this is a great second book! We revisted some characters from "Don't Tell" and I'm hoping Ms. Rose will write a sequel to this one, perhaps about Neil?
