It costs almost ... For this you get six songs, less than 30 minutes of music. Even Diana Krall's wonderful voice and piano shouldn't cost that much. My advice - buy everything else this talented singer has produced, and if you still need more, consider this one.

It may be cliche to say, but Krall's Christmas contribution is classic silky jazz, right for the season. The three songs are a fine mix of slow and more upbeat tunes, and while brief - 3 tunes, as I said - it's a great addition to Krall's growing repetoire, from one of the industry's greatest new voices. While pricey at $28USD, it can be had in Canada for much, much less.

I bought this cd thinking it was Diana Krall's Christmas cd. It contains three Christmas songs and three other songs. Not alot for ($) The music is great but I waited a long time to get this cd and I am very disappointed with it.

I am compelled to write because there are a lot of unfairly negative reviews on this disc -misplaced frustration which is undeserved because the complaints don't even relate to the quality of the CD, which is really the point.
The 2 major issues are: "What IS this disc?", and "why is it so expensive?"
1. This is an EP created for the Japanese market (I was looking at this disc in the store today, and the packaging is written in Japanese!). Most every artist has distributors in various countries of the world, and these distributors typically create unique releases for their domestic marketplace. You can, for instance, get a German edition of a U2 record which will have "bonus material" not included in other releases of the disc (some artists collect these outakes and release them more widely as "rarities and B-sides" albums.
Diana Krall released this X-mas EP in Canada in late 1999; it was 3 Christmas songs and a year 2000 desk calendar which fit in the jewel case... This year Diana's Japanese distributor packaged these 3 songs with some other unreleased material and created the collection you are all complaining about.
2.) The reason it is so expensive is that it's an import. You'd be paying this much for all CD's if they were originally priced for the Japanese market and were then imported here.
The reason this disc seems like a rip-off is that you're buying it in America, where it was never intended to be sold. I suspect that on the shelf in a Japanese store, compared to the other prices, it would likely be totally reasonable.
Judge this disc for what it is, not what you wish it was. For what it is, a X-mas sampler which cost less...in its domestic edition, it's an enjoyable holiday treat!

As a jazz pianist I have probably more appreciation of Diana's playing than the average listener. Believe me, she is a very gifted jazz pianist. Jingle Bells is my favorite -- what a great left hand she has -- and this fantastic voice. We are witnessing the emergence of a major jazz musician/vocalist.

This CD is utterly fantastic, if only for her version of "And I Love Him." PEOPLE, pay close attention to this part: This CD is more expensive because it is an IMPORT. It was never released as maxi-single domestically. When you get it, you'll see that the liner notes are half English, half Japanese. I lucked out and found my copy for 8.99 used (someone is kicking themselves now), but it is worth the ($)if you are a true Diana Krall fan.

I rate this CD 5 stars for fabulous music, but I think it should be titled "Have yourself an EXPENSIVE little christmas". The music on this CD is great, but come on, $... for a CD with only 6 songs--I'm sure I'm not alone in expecting more music for this price. When I ordered it I thought it might even be a double CD for this price. I think Diana took us for a ride.

A couple of the old standards are here and the departure from the typical holiday fair is welcome. Though certainly a must for diehard Diana Krall fans like myself, I find myself wanting more from this all too short play list, even if it is just an imported promo.

I was fortunate enough to be able to listen to a friend's copy of this CD. More great music from Diana Krall, but for the price, this Compact Disc is very compact as in "not enough music". This CD is a "Christmas Teaser" that makes you wish for more and wonder why she didn't follow through with a more complete Holiday offering (at a real-world price). Maybe next year?
