Book Description

What crazy, stupid things have you said or done in your search for love? In HAVEN'T I SEEN YOU SOMEWHERE BEFORE?, novelist and journalist Erasmo Guerra chronicles his own romantic misadventures and regrets, from growing up in a small town on the South Texas border to swinging through the revolving door that is the New York City gay dating scene. Told with humor and unapologetic honesty, these nonfiction stories, which have been previously published in The New York TimesGay City News, and aired on NPR's Latino USA, are sure to resonate with readers who've stumbled and gotten lost on the sometimes long, twisty road to romantic bliss.
"Guerra's stories artfully resonate with contemporary readers . . . he unabashedly shares tales of heartache and desire . . ." --xQsí Magazine
Praise for Erasmo Guerra's BETWEEN DANCES
"What a kick to read about New York City from the point of view of a gay Tejano. The protagonist, Marco, is a Tex-Mex Holly Golightly--part hustler, part hopeless romantic." --Sandra Cisneros, author of The House on Mango Street
"His writing is beautifully rendered . . . It is safe to assume that we can expect further greatness from Erasmo Guerra." -Lambda Book Report
". . . distinguished by a writing style that is as lavish and beautiful as the world it describes is bleak and harsh." --Southern Voice
ERASMO GUERRA is a Lambda Literary Award winner. He was a long-time contributor to the New York Daily News Latino "Viva" section and is the research editor at Cosmopolitan for Latinas magazine, where he fact-checks the latest sex toys, tips, celeb features and cocktail recipes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, Funny, Heartfelt August 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this book. Lots of range and depth. The author takes us from his first gay relationship in his home state of Texas, to his single in the city exploits in NYC (and elsewhere)to a sweet blossoming relationship with a new boyfriend who could actually last. He is an engaging, almost poetic storyteller and there is a ton of humor, poignancy and awesome lines in these stories...after answering a dating classified ad and seeing what showed up ("I'd placed my order with the universe, I couldn't just send the guy back to the cosmic kitchen - great!) I laughed out loud in parts. Other parts were gritty, sexy and vulnerable. Throughout, there was an oh-so relatable mix of disillusionment and hope. No matter how discouraged this guy may get on the singles scene, he tries and tries again. Which is what you've got to do when you're looking for love! A great read.

I know the author but I didn't know all the trials and tribulations of his life. This was an honest insight to finding love and acceptance no matter his sexual preference.

Pretty much unreadable. Terribly disappointed In the time I wasted on this horrific attempt at writing. Not everyone is capable of assembling a book worth reading- this proves it. In my opinion, a waste of time.
