Joel Yoda Master Whistler Brandon, January 10, 2002
This review is from: Haven't We All (Audio CD)
I heard Joel whistle for the first time in 1985 Carson City NV at the International Whistling Competition. I was blown away by his control of riffs and his ability to bridge rapid changes in tempo and keys are mind blowing. Haven't we all is a great first effort and is entertaining and shows Joel's multifaceted talents singing, playing the flute, rhyming and his unique signature style of whistling is the total package. Joel mixes his talents and has collaborated with some of the windy cities jazz greats to product what is a truly entertaining jazzy, educational, lyrical CD of original tracks for all ages. If you like jazz then you are going to love this album. If you like whistling you're really going to love this album. Move over and make some room Bobby McFerrin here comes Joel.

I met Joel as one of great ability. After introducing him to Rod McGrew the Program Director for radio station,KLJH,later to become the President of Unlimited Gold Records.Joels'skills.somewhat intimidating only left the offer to be a 'copyist. As a a student of CHARLES STEPNEY,Joel had perfect pitch,he could walk down the street in route to a recording session without instrument and write arrangements, confidently to the point of one take success. There will never be Two Joel Brandons'.One of a kind.....Imari....Skate with ME.
