Masters 'Having Fun', and so will you, April 4, 2003

Excellent duo recording from pianist/singer Jay McShann and bassist Major 'Mule' Holley. The two gentlemen swing like mad on this tour de force of blues, standards and ballads. Holley's vocal improvisation along with his bass solos are stunning, and his fat, walking lines are a joy. On top of this rock solid foundation are Jay McShann's blues-drenched piano and vocals. The live setting also adds to the loose, funky mood, and it must have been a night to remember for those lucky enough to be in the audience. The rest of us will have to do with the cd, and play it as loud as we can.
