3 out of 5 stars! I liked that this book was a mixture of Christian and Romantic book! It wasn't more of it one way or another but a very good mixture of both! The main characters are great and I love Noelle's friends in her knitting group! So .. if your looking for a quick romance read then this is one book you should check out!!

HAVING HER BOSS'S BABY does not describe this book at all!

Noelle Stevenson works in Dev Hunter's office and dated his younger brother Jimmy. At Dev's instance Jimmy joined the Army in hopes he would learn some responsibility. He was killed and a few months later Noelle suspects she's pregnant. So her family won't suspect, she takes a test early in the morning in the corporate bathroom and it's confirmed! Dev bumps into her; the test falls to the floor and he learns the news. He blames himself for his brother's death as it was he who insisted Jimmy join the military. For Dev, marrying Noelle is the only solution. He proposes marriage and to help with the baby for two years. After that he'll give her a generous settlement. So off to Vegas for a quick wedding and then home to tell Noelle's family the news.

This couple settles quite well into married life. The truth of how Dev and Jimmy were raised is revealed to Noelle. She learns that Jimmy was spoiled, he was always in trouble, and never took responsibility. It is also revealed when the boys were younger, their mom passed away and their father left, leaving their grandfather to raise them. Dev inherits the responsibility of the business and raising his brother when their grandfather passes. Of course, Dev shoulders the blame and for him love will never enter the picture. Did I say never? Little does Dev realize he's slowly falling under Noelle's spell. Noelle realizes she is deeply in love with Dev. She "hadn't given him her heart lightly".

This couple's journey is a painful one. There is laughter in this book, lots of it, a real sense of family and family dynamics but also a lot of pain. Dev is forced to explore his feelings and in the end confront them. Right before your eyes, Noelle grows from a young girl to a woman, a warm woman giving her heart to her new husband. I cried for Dev and all he had been through but the ending is bittersweet.

This is the first book in Susan Mallery's Positively Pregnant series and is an excellent start and very entertaining as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put this down!, October 12, 2009

I think this is one of my favorite Susan Mallery stories ever! This was such sweet story about real love. The age difference between these two characters didn't bother me at all. Dev's motives were pure. He did not set out to seduce Noelle. He sincerely was trying to do
the right thing and right a wrong that really wasn't his- and these characters simply fell in love. Noelle was the oldest in her family and very mature for her age. Ther was no "Ewe" factor for me. My only complaint with this story would be the title. I don't think it fits the story at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cute, yet equally stupid, December 4, 2011
This story sounds good in theory: girl gets knocked up, baby daddy dies, brother of baby daddy steps in and marries her.

Sounds like the beginning of true love, right? The girl slept with and got pregnant by the wrong brother but luckily he died so she could realize that his brother is her true love.

Cute because it stars good. They get married and settle into married life. The girl is young yet mature and the hero is nice, sweet and handsome and so helpful yet guarded because she IS pregnant with his brother's child.

Then all of a sudden it gets stupid. Noelle goes from being mature for her age to being childish and Devlin gets all emo sad panda and annoying.

THEN Ms. Mallery stupidly lets Noelle's childish, needs to get hit by a bus because their parents have enough kids and the youngest is TOO STUPID to LIVE sister take over the book.

The whole second half goes downhill faster than Lindsey Vonn with Noelle going gaga after sex and orgasms and her sister Tiffany being bratty and barging in on their lives and Dev being all "I killed my brother, I'm horrible and depressed"

PASS this book on by like scenery on a road trip

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, July 10, 2011

This is one of Mallery's best; I've re-read it several times.

Ignore the title, which has nothing to do with the story. It opens with Noelle finding out she is pregnant, at 19, from a boy who just died in the service. Dev is brother to the deceased - and her boss's boss - and suggests a marriage of convenience for a couple of years. Just long enough so she can finish school and become comfortable as a new mother.

I liked the hero, and really liked the heroine. Noelle is the oldest of four girls in a very tight family, and I totally bought it. One of her first thoughts about finding out she was expecting was the bad example she was setting for her sisters. All the conversations and interaction she has with all members of her family are so believable, and beautiful. Being the eldest, she is mature and responsible, but she doesn't come across as a 30 year old masquerading as a much younger character. So, I believed both that she was only 19, AND that she was mature for her age. Extremely well done, Mallery!

The hero was tortured by his past, of course. This is a Category Romance and there has to be reason for the emotional disconnect. I liked that he was not the usual Cat sterotype, however; the Alpha Businessman Billionaire, overwhelming all characters and situations. Instead, he was a really buttoned down, tightly wound guy, who worked all the time because he was working to avoid feeling. And what I really liked was that as Noelle grew more comfortable in their relationship, she called him on stuff. She even points out that his determination to do the right thing by her and his brother's baby, was a way to have all the things he wanted - a wife and family - without having to put himself at risk.

There are a lot of things going on this story, but they are all fabulous. The book has a fairly large cast, but there are no disposable characters; everybody contributes. Highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars I like the author but..., June 17, 2006

I know that Silhouette and Harlequins have little basis in reality but I like my books to at least be based on a realistic situation.

Normally, I love Susan Mallery and will read anything she writes but for those of you undecided- give ths one a pass.

Two stars for the author and her always sharp writing but the rest of this novel gets low marks from me. Read on...

I really prefer my heroines to have a little more season on them. This storyline has promise but he heorine was a silly immature girl. She is 19 (yes- a teenager!!!) and she is pregnant by her boyfriend who is killed. His brother steps in to help her out by marrying her.

First off, I did not find it realistic that this rich, older guy would marry this teenager regardless of her situation. Also, I find it creepy when Harlequin and Silhouette put teenagers in the heroine position. A little like child molesting- eew!!

If the heorine has beena a little older- say early 20s, this would have been more to my liking and may be I could have stomached it.

All I can say is give this one a pass and wait for Susan Mallery's next book. She does not usually disappoint.
