Both my husband and I were unable to attend Lamaze classes due to the fact that we work very different schedules. We were concerned that the pregnancy would be difficult without proper Lamaze instruction. Our doctor recommended "Having Your Baby." She indicated that it was tailor made for expecting mothers who were on bed rest, and for couples such as ourselves. After viewing the tape we were amazed at how detailed and enjoyable the video was. The instruction is wonderfully detailed and presented in a very uplifting manner. The video included full chapters on birth and C-sections, which no other video has. When it was time to have our child, we had no worries that we weren't prepared. This video made my pregnancy and delivery so much easier than I had expected. Thank you for this product.

In searching for the best aid in teaching expectant parents about childbirth, "Having Your Baby" surfaces as the most complete, the most useful, and the most balanced presentation available. As an adjunct to class, or especially for those who cannot get to a class, it beautifully prepares the expectant parents for the labor and birth process. The information is accurate and up to date, and the actual footage of hospital procedure and the birth process is extremely beneficial to see, as well as very tastefully presented. I highly recommend "Having Your Baby" as the best presentation on the subject.

Great video and more thorough than we expected it to be.
We are expecting our first baby, and due to our schedules we are unable to attend an actual class. This video has certainly helped alot!
only down side to this video, considering they write 2001 on the title, I didnt expect to see a class of early 1970s ppl participating in the making of the documentary. But all the information that it is provided makes up for it big time.

Yes, the footage is a little dated, but the information is still accurate. My husband and I took the full Lamaze series of classes when we were expecting our daughter in 2003. We needed a refresher for the birth of our son (due in 2005), but were unable to attend Lamaze classes in-person due to scheduling conflicts. This video (available in VHS and DVD format) provided us just what we needed and, as an added bonus, included two live births (one vaginal delivery and one c-section). The information contained in the video and the structure of the filmed class seemed almost identical to the in-class training we received in 2003.

"Having Your Baby!" has been a very helpful teaching tool for my husband and I, as we prepare for our baby's birth. We are new parents-to-be, and this DVD has been an excellent resource for us. We especially like that the content matter is very comprehensive (& easy to follow) and that the teaching methods are very practical, "step-by-step", & individualized. We highly recommend this DVD as a "must have" learning tool for parents-to-be!

I couldn't get to a lamaze class -- but thankfully, I found this wonderful childbirth video. "Having Your Baby!" was a tremendous help to me and I would tell anyone expecting a baby to get it. I was able to watch it in the comfort of my own home -- at my own pace -- and I thought that the video was very clear and comprehensive. I was very nervous about giving birth, but watching this video helped me to feel relaxed, informed, and as ready as I could possibly be. I'm happy to say that all the things I learned really worked! :o) Hooray for "Having Your Baby!"

As an obstetrician who delivers many babies every month, I have been looking for a video that I could recommend to my patients. When I found this video, "Having Your Baby", I was delighted. Not only is the information presented in a clear and understandable way, there is actual footage of labor, hospital procedures, a clear explanation of epidurals and pain medication, and two births, very tastefully done. (one is a C-section). I could find no other video that did all this. All my patients who have used this video have done very well in labor and all have felt well prepared. I am happy to recommend this video to any expectant person.

My husband and I are stationed in Germany with the US Army. Due to having a baby over here I asked my mother to find something that would teach me lamaze and relaxation techniques. She sent me this DVD and I really think its the best money that was spent on my pregnancy! I used all the techniques during my labor and was able to deliver my son without an epidural. They did start a form of Tylenol in my IV but that only took the edge off of a few of the HARD contractions. Having a focal place (happy place) really helps. The Breathing Techniques are a way of playing a game with your mind and taking the focuse off of the painful contractions and placing it in a more useful place...staying in control! Yes this DVD was filmed in the 80's but everything they teach is so relevent. I practiced religiously for 3 months before I delivered my son so I would have to say practicing also helps. Yes you feel stupid and look silly but who cares if you are able to help yourself during labor and arent the woman screaming her head off in the other room!

I use this video for teaching prenatal classes at a crisis pregnancy center. Although it is designed for lamaze classes, it is very helpful in explaining reasons to be as relaxed as possible to my mostly young jr and senior high moms. It helps them to better understand and know what to expect during labor and delivery. With this knowledge and understanding they are able to be better participants, thereby having more uncomplicated labors resulting in heathier babies.

This video delivered what it promised. The medical information was accurate and understandable for the lay person. The graphics were impressive and helped prepare me for what was happening to my body and my baby. I felt empowered, prepared and excited.
The video was was well sequenced in the presentation of the stages of pregnancy and the stages for preparedness.
I am a professional myself and much prefer videos such as this one which are prepared by a professional with obvious experience and compasstion and passion for the process of having a baby.
It was a great reference tool for me throughout the process.
With my busy schedule, i feel fortunate to have found this complete and competent course. I have passed the word on to my friends to rush out and get it.
